Professional knife sharpening. 40 years of experience. Knife modifications/Regrinds

Richard J has sharpened two knives for me

He convexed my BK2 and when I received it the BK2 SHAVED HAIR and would push cut through newspaper

he also sharpened my cold steel spartan. all I can say is this thing is crazy sharp. It splits hairs!!
I cannot say enough about the quality job he does. On top of that he is a great guy. He called me today to talk about a project I'd like done and has referred me to a friend of his. IF the project gets done that'll be another thread.

turnaround for knives is super fast!

anyway I'm done ranting, if you have any reservations about sending a knife to richard j go ahead and email me I'll put your fears to rest :-)

thanks Richard!!

Hi guys,

I am truly impressed with how Richard does his business. I've sent him 4 knives and 1 short sword for his sharpening service. Evidently, he sharpened all the knives and sent them back to me the same day he received them. I've sent the knives to him on Monday and it was back to me by Friday. Now, that is one impressive turn around time. When I received the knives, I could not believe how sharp the edges are. I was breaking down the thick cardboard boxes and the edges went through the boxes like a knife through warm butter. If you guys are looking to send your knives for sharpening service, Richard is the way to go. I have already called couple of friends with dull knives and passed Richard's email address. Two thums up!!!

Hi,

This is my first post. Richard is top notch. I had him sharpen three knives for me (two Scrapivores and an Emerson mini CQC-7). The the regular edge is outstanding and the convex edge is even better. The turn-around time is less than a week from door-to-door. Richard is definitely the way to go for sharpening services.

A few years ago I had sent Richard J a much abused PAL knife that was far from being collectible due to the poor condition for his "spa" treatment. The original leather washer handle was rotted away and the blade had some serious deep rust going on. After his rework the knife is now a joy to use and show off. Richard removed all of the rust that he could, made me a new leather handle and put a very sharp convex edge on it for a very reasonable price.

Richard,

I just got back the knife I sent you. Great job and fantastic work!

I can't believe how well you fixed the "mess" I sent you. The knife's never been sharper.

Great Job and thanks again!

Paul

Please post pics of it. I'd love to see how it turned out.

Richard J is the man! If your knife needs some tlc send her to the RJ Spa! That is if you like hair splitting razor sharp edges.

Tagging this thread so I can find it later. I got a couple knives with more belly than I like. A regrind would get them back in my pocket.

Just got my knives back today. I sent a SOG trident, skyline, and an alox soldier. All came back SUPER sharp. Great job, I'll definitely be using him in the future. Thanks!

A+++ experience once again. Richard "de-waved" and sharpened my two Emersons. They are perfect!!!

Richard sharpened my knife for me and he did a great job, i highly recommend his services to anyone who isn't scared to cut themselves or other things.he turned the obtuse angle on a swamp rat into a thin convex edge and I couldn't ask for it to have been done better. thanks again!

Well I ended up here after reading about convexing...and I'd like to have some of my knives sharpened.

I'd like to get my:

BK9
BK2
BK14
Kabar USMC

.....all convexed. Richard I went to you website but I can't find any contact info there. How can I start this process? Thanks!!

anyone in need of my service can send me an email through the forum by clicking my name in any of my posts. i'll send shipping instructions through an email. include a phone number also.

I spoke to Richard earlier this year, and shortly after that got the paper wheels that he spoke so highly of. After quite a bit of practice, I can say that I can get my knives extremely sharp and do my own re-profiling with the Wicked Edge and stones.

Last week, I asked Richard if he could take out the recurve from my ZT0200. He said he would give it a shot and I sent the bare blade to him without the thumbstud. Holy crap. I thought I was good with my edges, but what he sent back is in a whole different level of sharp. Not only did he take out the recurve, but he also put his edge on it and at the same time left the DLC intact.

posted a pic of it here:

I just got my Busse Magnum Bear Cub back from Richard and it's like a new knife. It had been heavily used when I got it and now it has a mirrored edge that is hair popping sharp. Richard does awesome work. He also had a very quick turnaround time.
