Proto Pics Of The BussMuk . . . !!!!!!

Just curious what other people think about a functional choil on this one.

Wonderful design Boss. My vote would be for the functional choil as in Guyon's pic above. This is a knife made for task work and a functional choil fits the bill for that. If the top is taken off as was suggested earlier, it would be a functional knife, but no longer a Nessmuk. The Nessie design has lasted the test of time for a reason (i.e., Woodcraft 1920).

I was thinking the other way... I like the idea of a functional choil, And I'm a fan of 'em, but on this I was thinking that it doesn't have to be so big or cut into the blade area... Maybe if Jerry moved the Talon hole back just a bit, away from the blade to increase it a little...? Also to add some light checker filing there and on the spine for a more sure grip when wet & slippery... :)

Mebbe sumthin' like this... :)

I would lean more towards what you have there as opposed to Guyon's, but that is just me. You won't lose as much edge with that choil enlargement. Of course I like it the way Jerry had it too.

Oh, same here!! ...Just musing aloud. :D:D

I still like the Boss' original proposal. This is not a large knife to begin with, and a large functional "choke-up" choil is unnecessary, yet it needs one to be "Busse-esque."

Wow, awesome design. I've been looking for a Nessie and I've been hearing so many good things about Busse that I don't think I can pass one up. Definitely let us know when they hit the market so I can pull the trigger on one.

BUSSE PEPS,
Hey, this is Kim Hammonds.
i just wanted to let you know that, that NESSMUK knife, is-
great! A "kicken desighn." I like, alot. As soon as it goes on sale, i want to know. Me and Mike/Dad, want it. I wonder, how much.*************** Like it matters.

 by-DAD/MIKE

Whoa. I really like this knife!!!

I've seen the comments on losing the skullcrusher/extened pommel. I really hope Jerry won't take that to heart. It will ruin the knife for me unless I could get it as an option.

How big was the blank it was cut from?

I would like to see the various thicknesses, with the thinnest around 1/4!

Yeah, but your little black dots in the background are all messed up. :p :D

The direction this thread has taken makes me laugh. When Jerry gives us a big choil, we gripe. When he eliminates it, we moan. What a bunch a whiny brats we are.

I vote for the original choil (with a GW handle, of course => my peeve). If you want a larger one, get Ban or Ducci to grind it in for you.

Same goes for a smooth butt.;):D

Hmm-got to comment on the choil. I never thought much of choils until I started using Busses. I was working on a British MOD over the weekend and have to say that I miss the choil, particularly when attempting any sort of fine work with the blade. Keep it, please!! Just my two cents' worth.

just a quick note to everyone - there is some amount of visual distortion from the angle that the intial picture was taken. that is an "edc" handle, the exact same as on the active duty.

so expect this thing to be about the size of an active duty - fairly small.

Hey, don't drag me into this, I only grind for the worse, not the better! ;)

I am for whatever choil the Boss decides. I do however like the idea of the GW handle on it. Love these alot. Round and smooth gets my vote. Also Im not sure how long this overall. Id like it about 9" overall with a 5" blade(including choil). I prefer 1/4" or so thickness too. These are just my preferences.

I'd actually prefer the leaner mean street handles as apposed to the ad edc handle. I never warmed up to the heavy palm swell on the ad... loved the flown handle variant of it i had though, all it really did was take off some of the palm swell hump.
