Proto Pics Of The BussMuk . . . !!!!!!

I would be extremely pleased to see this with a 3"-3.5" blade. At that size I would get on board for the sub 3/16" chant.

BUSSE PEPS,
Hey, this is Kim Hammonds.
i just wanted to let you know that, that NESSMUK knife, is-
great! A "kicken desighn." I like, alot. As soon as it goes on sale, i want to know. Me and Mike/Dad, want it. I wonder, how much.*************** Like it matters.
-ANYWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-
Hang-tight!

LUVYA,
Kim/Kimbo
name given to me-
meaning-
pardon my spelling?! tuff like RAMBO!
 by-DAD/MIKE

Kim has spoken!!

Enough said ... :D

You all know the design is good -- all we can find to whine about are, quite literally, the 'little things.' :)

The direction this thread has taken makes me laugh. When Jerry gives us a big choil, we gripe. When he eliminates it, we moan. What a bunch a whiny brats we are.

I vote for the original choil (with a GW handle, of course => my peeve). If you want a larger one, get Ban or Ducci to grind it in for you.

Same is true for you Butt:p

If you don't like the EDC Butt just have some guy grind it off to the GW style.

I like the knife Jerry had up, I don't like giving up edge for a choil and I most often have a folder to use for the little stuff.

Yea That! very well said Tony! a choil is for people with no hand/knife control! :D

3/16 is thin already. That blade must be near 2-inches wide. If you ran the flat grind of a Cultellus out to a two inch wide blade it would be .375 inches (a cultellus is .6 inches wide .125 thick).

Do we need it to be effectively that much thinner than a cultellus?
.

I'll put it this way, If this comes out thicker than 1/4" then I will not be one of the lucky owners. But if it comes out in .25" and under I will be more than happy to take a few off Jerry's hands. I do hope that it comes in as many flavors as the GW so everybody gets what they want.

Given its original appearance with a Pumpkin handle, I think your wish will be granted. :D

My first Busses were 3/16 and I thought they were quite thick compared to what I had handled before. I only consider the Cultellus thin compared to other Busses ;)

I really like the idea of different versions with different thicknesses

Same is true for you Butt:p

Who are you calling "butt", buster?

I never said I wasn't a whiner too.

A rounded AD is NOT the same as a GW. The Warden is much more rounded and symmetric.

I figured that since Jerry called these prototypes, we could weigh in on the design (see my whiner comment above).

Yeah, that.

I am an anti choil on small knives guy because I have done a TON of carving. I used to carve some pretty nice stuff that people offered to pay a bunch of money for. Nothing fancy really but interesting enough to some folks who saw the stuff I guess.

Anyway... if you have done a LOT of wood carving you would definitely want the edge close to your index finger and you would NOT want to have to turn your finger sidways to fit it in a half size choil to be close to your working edge a-la-edc handle/choil.

For skinning and light carving you may not notice a big difference but if you have carved a block of wood down into something delicate you would appreciate the difference in leverage and reduced fatigue when you can hold the handle close to the edge. Bushcraft is all about chores such as carving wood into certain shapes/tools.

Edited to add... Also, another reason NOT to have a choil is that every Busse knife I know of HAS had a choil. Not all are big enough to fit a full digit into but they are always there. I would like to see a handle design on this knife that would actually let you hold the handle while working with up close.

If you let your index finger rest on the handle the way it naturally does on an EDC handle you are about an inch from the working edge. What's the benefit of that? Chopping? Comfortable for sure but I think the Nessie warrants another approach.

Edited to add (again)... I don't want to seem like a biotch about the choil thing. The knife is beautiful. Full height grind sure looks good on that proto. Full convex would be SWEET! I might have to get two. One might be a dedicated thrower! Does anyone else see that front heave balance throwing like like a champ?! I can't wait :)

More questions...

Regular offering OR show blade?

If the former, when's the ASH-1 coming down?

Will the Anorexic Assault Shaker go up with it?

Will there be a bonus page of CG SFNOs?

A man can dream...

Well, it's good looking, but I probably would not get one. Just don't need a knife like that.

Might be a trend here...got a BATAC, sold it... got the ASH-1 SE, didn't like it, traded it...skipped the Scotch dispenser... and now this one.

Bring on the AAS, and some stronger Kool-Aid!

What do you seek? ([tim]"The Holy Grail?"[/tim])

No, really. I've been doing a lot of thinking about this. I am not sure I see purpose of a small INFI blade. There is only so much chopping you can accomplish with a MrS. Even Jerry said that, for certain tasks, something like the D2 Dog Skinner was better suited for its tasks than an equivalent INFI knife. I am on the verge of doing something drastic that reflects this train of thought and purging all my sub-4.5" blades (with one exception). The BA3 has become my benchmark for minimum desirability.
