Queen purchase finalized!

As a graphic designer all i got to say about the ad is ouch, as a fan of traditional knives i'm pullin for them to make this a success, we dont need to lose another one

Hah! MOTS... haven't heard that one in a while. (I suddenly also had a flashback to a photo of an ingrown toenail...... ;) )
Yes, that ad is terrible. Maybe I'll email them and offer to pick up their design work... in exchange for a nice ebony-covered Heritage Jack. :D
Personally, I'm not going to take too much stock in the publicity and marketing; I'm going to wait for the knives to start coming out. The proof is in the pudding!

I wouldn't be too hard on them yet Charlie, who knows what kind of materials were left for them, probably just using up some in stock inventory to help cover salaries until they can get up to speed, it aint cheap running a shop that size.

I'm sure you are right, Eric. I kinda jumped in with both feet; but I am disappointed they are not being more careful. Quality control extends to ALL facets of a successful company, and I want them to be successful!!

Queen should remove this dreadful mistake laden ad immediately and fire whomever was responsible for giving it the o.k.
Hiring everyone back might seem like a nice move but to be successful the new owners need to be smart and confident enough to rid the company of sloppy employees.
This ad is a terrible opening volley that only serves to bring laughter and joy to the other USA knife manufacturers.

No Charlie you were right to chastise..it is terrible way for a company to start on a new path it should of been bright lights instead of a flickering light bulb.......
and
Roland that might be kind of tough considering on another forum it was Ryan Jr. whom said that "He" would be updating the new Queen Cutlery website....sure enough he did, it has all the look and feel of the Tuna Valley site.....Blah...

I almost hate to pile on but that's just awful. I thought it must have been a prank of some kind when I first saw it, but no, it is still up on the website right now.
Is that a Tanto secondary blade?
Nickle?
Copping?
They could have at least smeared those fingerprints off the bolster with the same dirty shop rag they used to wipe the blades down.

Lolz.

That could be a fault of whoever did the photo cutout. They may have cropped the source image oddly.

But yeah...hmmm...interesting? Guess we'll see what's to come but that's kind of an awkward knife to launch the "dawn of a new era."

I always try to be a wishful thinker too, but if they use anything remotely similar to adobe CS5 or 6, its would almost have to be intentional to cut it out into a tanto like that. IMO of course.

Maybe its an April Fool's joke.

I hope at the very least, someone at Queen is reading this thread and is going to do something about it.

I will be honest...
I stumbled into this picture on their website, and decided to post it as a "new beginning" sign, but I did not take a look at it in the first place. Why? because I'm just not interested in the pattern at all.
Only today, reading your answers and comments, I took a real look at it and realized the awfulness of the situation.
Eventually, their knives will decide their fate. We'll see how it goes. Not a good start at all, considering that the internet is the cradle (and tomb) of today's knife market.

As a person who spells and looks at pictures, I also say, "Ouch."

Anyone involved in creating and/or approving that ad (and thereby deeming it acceptable) should have no say in further publications, web or otherwise. Anyone who needs to be told there's something wrong with it, let alone what, isn't qualified to make graphics/advertising decisions.

I hope Queen can get good people in place, soon.

I totally agree Charlie, I was referring more to the knife than that ad, THAT'S pretty bad. The knife probably looks a lot better in hand, and apparently some folks were scapping 'em up too!

I guess I might as well think out loud(utt ohh)! Could this be the first of the clean up of the old line of Queens, before they start tooling for the GEC made Queens? Although I don't recall seeing that one before! Perhaps they formed it from some other of the same type of patterns.

The Dogleg Whittler 4" pattern has been around for awhile it appeared the first time I can remember in the Schatt & Morgan Annual Series 2008.....

Stu.....

This is the first add from the new owners......

Charlie was well spoken when he said:

I think a few words I would choose to describe the "old" Queen would be careless, aloof, even sloppy. That ad unfortunately, IMHO suggests that maybe the new boss is the same as the old boss.
I sincerely hope not.

I'm not sure what surprises me more...how bad that ad is or the fact that it says "sold out"!
