Queen purchase finalized!

They still didn't fix this one: "in history its etched"

"It's" is a contraction of "it is", not the possessive adjective "its", so the ad needs to say "it's". Takes all of 10 seconds to read over text that short and notice the errors. I really hope they get someone in there who can proofread. I know a lot of people don't care, but when I see simple several mistakes in that short of a text it makes me wonder if they know what they're doing when it comes to making knives.

I doubt very much that they'll be involved with GEC. I also doubt that they'll be doing away with Queen's old line, nothing wrong with it, you've got tooling for just about every classic traditional knife there.

I don't see the two as necessarily connected; grammatical and graphics acuity can be a different skill set from that needed to produce quality knives.

However, these early signs of either ignorance or arrogance about the importance of presenting one's business in a professional manner and what that requires are definitely disconcerting.

Hopefully, someone will recognize that whomever is attempting things right now doesn't have what it takes, and find someone else to provide the interface (and content!) for the current Queen Cutlery web page.

Looks like "it's" has been corrected. I really like Queen knives and I hope they blow our socks off with their new approach...after this one...lol!

I guess I might as well think out loud(utt ohh)! Could this be the first of the clean up of the old line of Queens, before they start tooling for the GEC made Queens? Although I don't recall seeing that one before! Perhaps they formed it from some other of the same type of patterns.

There will be no "GEC made Queens"! These are two different companies, different owners and different philosophies. The connection between GEC and Tuna Valley Cutlery was ended months ago. There never was and I highly doubt there ever will be any connection between GEC and Queen Cutlery.

I'll sleep well tonight.

Really though I hope they get someone in there who will present their business in an attractive way and make it look professional. I hope for their next knives they take pictures of top, bottom, thickness, and list the specs below the picture instead of in a silly graphic. It's FAR easier to do that way and the colors show better.

For example:

A simple, top down picture, one showing the other side, and a 3rd showing the thickness would be more than sufficient for me and I'm sure a lot of others.

Please, no more silly graphics!!! Just post clear pictures and accurate specs below the pictures.

Hey maybe Canal Street Cutlery will return the favor from a number of years back and show em how it's done....................

I have a few recently made Canal Street Cutlery knives. The fit is very precise, the finish impeccable and the blades shaving sharp. Easily on par with GEC but with a more gentlemanly feel.
There is a place for Queen, but only if they can match CSC and GEC in quality. I hope the new owners realize how high this standard is.

I really like the way you phrased this Roland, "gentlemanly feel" is a perfect description of CSC in my humble opinion. All my Canal Streets have been terrific out of the box and if they made more patterns I would have more.

Queen has made some of my all time favorite knives including my Schatt gunstock. I really hope the new owners step up and put out knives with the same level of fit and finish they were known for ten + years ago. When the new production gets going and if I receive a knife ground like my Queen City Copperhead or Dan Burke Barlow it will be my last Queen. I don't enjoy spending hours with my stones making a brand new knife useable.

And at the very least they need to get themselves a webmaster...

I figured the knives would still be turned out in the Titusville Queen factory but I though that GEC would perhaps bring the QCC up to the GEC level. Still curious about all this!

Peter, the Daniels' dissolved their partnership with GEC and parted ways about a year or so ago, they then learned that Queen was up for sale and purchased the factory, with sale finalized in the last couple of months. Although both factories (Queen and GEC) are in the same area, they are basically competitors now, at least in some segments. GEC's basically high end, you can't keep a company the size of Queen afloat by selling only high end knives in the $100+ range.

Shows me this post confused me from the get go! I'm slow but I usually get there.

How many fingers am I holding up? ;)

I truly hope for the best for Queen as they have some of the best old patterns that hearken back to an earlier time. If they can tighten up their manufacturing standards and produce a knife worthy of that great old name I think they'll be able to compete with anyone and flourish. I hope that will be the case for a variety of reasons.

If anyone can do it, I trust that the new management will be the ones that can. But please, if I may express a personal wish, bring back the classics with classic materials and covers and leave the overly showy or gimmicky knives for someone else to produce.

If they bring back REAL Queen winterbottom put me down for first in line...they dont need to make the over blingy knives when Queen has a solid history of making classy yet functional knives which has only been impeded for a fraction of its existence as a cutler giant in the US. Bring back the old Queen!

The new ad is much better. That stag looks really nice but better lighting would help!

"The handles are Genuine India Burnt Stag and sports"

Should be sport because handles is plural. Or write it as "the handle is...........and sports....."

Also in the picture it says "sabre" but in the description it says "saber". Someone got lazy :D

Either way they did a better job this time. I'm hoping to see D2 on future knives.

Ryan should get a proof reader! There is no excuse for bad English in advertising.
