Rev - If the "rules" are that no deal is complete until both parties are satisfied, and feedback can't be given unless a deal is completed, how does one ever have anything but perfect feedback? This bias in favor of positive feedback makes the system useless IMO. If it functioned like it should, it wouldn't be necessary to search GBU for stuff that ought to be reflected in feedback.
Please show me exactly where that is written as a rule? That is an ideal that people should strive for, not a hard and fast rule. The problem with this transaction is that a new member felt that he was going to get ripped off. The rules state what to do when this happens, hard to get to number 3 when you skip 1 and 2. We are not trying to suppress negative feedback, but it would have been more appropriate if the OP had received an empty box, a box with a rock, a SanrenMu POS knife, or something other than what was promised. Since he received nothing and the package was intercepted, the transaction was therefore incomplete. We can all sit here and come up with 1,000s of excuses as to why things went the way they did.. The recourse in these situations is a thread right in this very forum. What we are trying to prevent is retaliatory "FU Negs".
Everyone has their own idea of what is right or how things should work, but the current set of rules has been compiled over the course of over 10 years and literally over tens of thousands of transactions, buying, selling, trading, pass arounds, worst case scenarios, best case scenarios and even crap your pants paranoia situations. Are they perfect? Not at all, but they cover as much as possible without reading like a Senate bill. When you have 15 pages of rules people tend not to read any of it. So we try to keep things short and concise.
You may remember there was a time where everyone and their granny was shooting one another with negative feedback just because they felt they were wronged and Spark warned that if it continued the while iTreder system would be removed. I for one like having it around, but if people want it taken away then they should just ignore the owners suggestions and move full speed ahead. I would say at this point if the OP is out some money they the person on the other end of the trade should reimburse the expenses incurred by the OP. What's fair is fair and that much is fair. Mpdog fulfilled his end and the other guy was stalling, hemming and hawing for too long. Hope that makes sense.
No hard feelings Mpdog, I was just trying to prevent additional work for everyone and the drama that these kinds of threads tend to generate.
