It's probably not correct, but early in the movie JR was pounding on some rebar on his anvil. Don't know if you should take that to mean his knife was made from that material or something else. But, from the picture posted above the steel seems very pitted. I don't know - I'm not a knife maker. Probably someone else could speak more knowledgable about this.
I must be totally out of the loop. For some reason I thought United Cutlery went out of business not too long after Camillus.
Nice knife, and it's great they're using forged 1060. Good tough steel, perfectly suited for it's purpose.
The original United did declare bankruptcy and close down. United's assetts and name were bought out by another company who has ressurected United Cutlery as a completely separate company based in Georgia.
Not sure myself, good question. I have tons of rebar in my backyard so if it is possible to make a knife out of that stuff please let me know.

It was a good movie, kinda...
Couple of notes:
Last 15 minutes of mayhem had me in stitches ROFLMAO. The gratuitus carnage was awesome! Secondly, Sly looks way 'Roided up or something. Almost unnatural. I guess there are no substances that are banned in Hollywood.![]()
Clarification on the knife/rebar bit.
When I saw the movie last night, it was my understanding that he was making a prop/propshaft out of the rebar to repair his boat, and then for the knife was using a bar which looked very much like a leaf-spring.
