"Rambo"=AWESOME

I saw this one yesterday and it was awesome. Straight up, over the top action in true Rambo fashion. The first thing my buddy and I said to each other when walking out is "so, what day are you planning on seeing it again?". The new knife is growing on me too. Its ugly as hell but functional.

Great movie. Liked that he had kept the bow from the previous movies...

Glad for the ending too.

I saw it today. Very fast moving and a quality script associated with excellent directing. I saw the WW-II bomb when they walked by it but was saying "No Claymore makes that big of an explosion" until I read
the posts here a few minutes ago and saw the deal about the Claymore setting off the bomb. Makes perfect sense now. I enjoyed the movie enough to watch it again in the theater and will buy the DVD when it comes out too. Some of Stallone's best work.

OMT

ps Sad deal is (I spent time in SE Asia) the War Lords in Burma, Laos, and Cambodia are every bit as merciless as depicted in R 4.

Good movie - I liked the ending too - opens up the possibiltiy of another one.

The Claymore mine scene was over the top though even it it did set off a WWII bomb. It was like a small nuke.

For what it's worth one of the guides said the bomb was a WWII British Tall Boy Bomb they were a 12,000lb. Bunker Buster of the period Largest conventional bombs dropped during WWII. Only recently surpassed in size by the MOAB

Saw the movie last night. Very good directing, and excellent cinematography in my opinion. The knife forging scene was cool, but for me, the timing of the scene was slightly awkward:

Rambo: When can you men be ready to leave?
Pastor: Now/when you are ready, or something like that.
Rambo: (OK, they're ready to go now. Let me go forge a knife first.)

Again, i thought it was a great scene, but maybe felt it could have flowed better if place right before the Pastor's visit.

My only other ultra-nit-picky criticism was I thought the mercs could have been harder, dressed more appropriately, and displayed a little less personality. However, I understand that personalities lend substance to the movie, so I ok with them.

For sure, I'll buy the DVD.

ooh.. a rambo 5 sounds cool..... first i have to see #4....:o hopefully this weekend.... i've been couped up at home with this damn knee surgery...:(

Saw it yesterday. It was very well done and had everything where it needed to be. I would definitely be down for another Rambo but fear the closest we'll get is the preview for the son of Rambow.
Definitely a kick ass flick.

just seen it tonight. awesome!

correct me if i'm wrong but isn't this the first R rated action movie in like 5 years:grumpy: i'm getting rather sick of R rated comedies and pg-13 action movies:thumbdn:

Watchin it online right now, sorry Sylvester if you are reading this, one less ivory back scratcher for you.
A kukri would have been awesome, but at least it's a functional blade for a change, and from a reputable maker at that.
Are you saying Jimmy Lile was NOT a reputable maker?

I saw it yesterday, and liked it much better than 2 or 3. Can't wait for it to come out on dvd!!!

I saw it on the recommendation of Mr. Sibert.

The Tallboy reference was appreciated.

I like the blade, for once.

The mercenaries? Pretty gay.

The Ma deuce action? Very Private Ryan. Dug it.

Enjoyed the archery display as well.

Stallone is an elitist, of course. But if we didn't go to films based on th actors themselves, we wouldn't watch a thing. Most of them are elitist pricks.

The movie was still enjoyable. He did need to get SOF to tell him where to go for the movie. What does that tell you?

A neighbor of mine, a lady in her 50's, goes into that very region every few years and has to hire mercs to get her through the DMZ.

Shame they couldn't have made those guys a bit more believable, but it looked like they walked off the set of Beyond Thunder Dome.

But the .50 action did kick ass. They didn't forget the tracers.

My son and i saw Rambo this weekend at the cheapie cinema. It was a good escapist movie with a decent story. I do have some bones to pick over some of the content. How can a company of bad guys be such poor shots. 100 guys shooting AK's puts out alot of lead. Next, that must have been a "nuclear" claymore. A claymore is a small directional mine loaded with shot. The one in the movie went off like a nuke with a blast wave greater that a MOAB. Pure movie BS. They always exagerate the explosions of gernades and mines. The "mercs" were pure stock movie fiction charcters. A motley bunch of characters, no compatible weapons, gear or unit cohesion. They would be more dangerous to go in with than the girl scouts. The .50 cal sniper rifle for short shots in the camp was way out of line and would have been too loud. How would you like to carry that thing in the jungle. A .30 cal would have been enough. Last, how can you go into an enemy village without any recon and prior planning. This invites disaster, remember the 6Ps. Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. I enjoyed the movie though. But for you armchair ninjas and commandoes remember it is only a Hollywood movie and has nothing to do with reality.
