Moving this over here.
They were taken from a[n] [ex] dear friend of mine whom I had gifted them to. He took a group of kids fishing and left a pack containing about 2k of stuff, not the least of which being his wallet and keys, hanging from a tree on the beach while he walked out on the reef fishing with the kids. "I had a line of sight." Apparently he looked over and it was gone. F*****g moron. He hardly even lifted a finger to try recover the stuff: a HDFK, a BOSS Street with custom Mt. Mike sheath, and a GSO2.5 (with red linen micarta scales!!). I expended much energy on the endeavor, to no avail.
Interesting idea you got there. I might just try setting some bait at the same location...not valuables but a sack on the beach with something that might be considered desirable by those who would commit such an act, maybe a cheap knife of some sort...don't think I'd get the original knives back but maybe get the MF'er arrested...hmmm....an old or broken MacBook perhaps, something easy to tag that they'd hold onto long enough to get tracked...wait, doesnt any phone issue an alert when it's around a non-paired AirTag for a while? How long does that take?
