  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Just turned on the propane fireplace in the living room, (on pilot), so I won't have to screw with it if the power goes out during the event.

(We have three of them, only one of which we use, and I leave all of them completely shut off during the year until the first winter storm threatens to knock out power. That's when having a 500 gallon in-ground propane tank shines.)

Getting warmer now; the Wind River's warm water is still steaming in the background.

Those of you on a well pump without a generator, (like us), remember to fill a tub with water so you can flush once the tanks can no longer fill from the pump.

If you have a well, I strongly recommend getting a small 120-240 generator just to keep your well, some lights and a refrigerator running. I got a little 3,000 watt generator years ago and I've used it many times for that during power outages

Pretty quiet and only uses a third of a gallon of gas an hour

Had it for years without any trouble. I put synthetic oil in it after the break-in. And have given it zero maintenance since. I'm wanting to say was two or three hundred bucks. Off brand generator. Always starts on the first pull. It's good peace of mind when the lights go out.

I just don't want to be bothered. Eventually I'll go whole house propane when I feel like dropping that much coin.
