Johnny, take an old coffee can, or whatever container you don't need, and do layers of salt then livers. Repeat till it's full. Stick the can in your fridge for a week or so, then pull them out for use. They'll be tough and won't fall off the hook.

But honestly, fresh cut bait for channels and blues is best. Even live bait for channels if you're only looking for trophy size fish. Live bait for flatties is a must. I stopped using shad a long time ago. Just too hard to keep alive. I started catching bullhead cats and using them for bait. They live forever and work just as good, if not better sometimes.

Never heard of the salt thing. It makes sense though. We don't use liver too much, they're messy and stain the pier. Live bait, cut bait, nightcrawlers for catfish.

You want to catch the largest Bass in the pond? Throw on a live Bream, the bigger the better, on a nice big cork and throw it out in the middle. This will bring out big daddy....

Mat, I know what you mean, but I've seen cougar now and then, the one that roams down my street, seen about once a year, but not since I stopped the long walks ........

Hell yeah it does! I didn't use lures for bass till my late teens. Until then it was live bait under a bobber. Consistently caught really nice bass. Then at some point I decided the only way to bass fish was to have a tackle box the size of rolling carry-on luggage with a mortgage payment worth of tackle inside. Not sure why I ever stopped doing it my old ways!

Darn Bob! Yours is taken at a higher elevation. When the weather improves, I'm going to go higher up to take some arial shots of Lake San Marcos :)

$465? Would that be considered a fair price? :D

Just poking a little fun here. Obviously, it's a fair price to the buyer. ;)

Ha! And that's the thing about fair market value. :D

I have a feeling we're coming up on what the market will bear, but who knows...

I posted this in the wrong place.

RE: The FK for $465 and another for $492.

Edit: Just saw the post above mine. Maybe FKs should be on DJIA.:p

Again, I am not being critical. IMHO, any object is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

It's fair. All that matters is what the transacting parties agree to. IMHO, the original list prices were underpriced because of Nathan's business philosophy and from what else I have seen in the realm of that FK, an undervalued knife at that so far as the original prices were just like the originally prices Shivs, UFs, D2 Skinners, yada yada. The FK could possibly be the best game hunters knife around.

One could say the same thing about Busse's knives although it took a little longer for the prices to double on some of his knives. I have not followed the knives made by other makers, so I don't know if the same thing is going on with their products.

As has been said before here, it's simply supply and demand. The supply is limited and the demand is high.

Guess Nathan is still Under-pricing them because you can get a 10 inch chopper that is .220 thick for $375

The UF ticks just about all of my wish list boxes. BRING IT team CPK. Maybe we can send beer to the new hire to sneak it into the white board while everyone else is at lunch and he’s left to sweep up chips and scrape 3V slivers out of machine crevices.:D

While supply and demand is a crucial factor, there'd be no demand whether in the initial phases or the aftermarket if the quality and value were not inherent. We can debate these issues till the cows come home but at the end of the day Nathan is leaving some money on the table at his expense but to his buyers' benefits. #unclemattyhathspoken
