Random Thought Thread

I have a 1998 regular Sebenza (large)
I have an Insingo 21 (small)

Do I need a large Insingo in MagnaCut? (I really like the Insingo profile and I'm itching to try MagnaCut.)

I know I don't need it but I still need to be convinced that it'd be a waste of money, please. Thank you.

P.S. If only Nate would say the folder is two weeks out, it would be a no-brainer.
I tried a sebenza and love it , but I think the heat treat could be better on the blade..... if they push the numbers they said on magnacut....I will own one once more are available in double stud insingo

I like 20cv and family for what I do.. but I can chip it with the edges I push... I have a spyderco MagnaCut mule I took to my liked edge and used at work... felt like it held the edge about the same .. with me getting the "bitey" edge I like without getting chips from bumping steel stands I use to dispense plastic sheeting

I know it .. but just can't think of the name damnit

Btw you are very good , all my cousins on my moms side learned how to play instruments..... in 6th grade I picked saxophone (the whole Bill Clinton cigar thing inspired me... but I sucked)

So my dad had me fixing crappy cars with him instead of music
Thanks, music has been a part of my life since I was knee high to a grasshopper.

Ding ding ding!

63 - 64 rockwell that they show for their MagnaCut sounds about right.
If that's accurate then it should be fantastic. I've worked with 4 knives in Magnacut at 63 recently and compared to my usual 3V at 60, it just wants to take a screaming sharp edge. I need to order some more steel.
Also, I'm waiting for my own large 31 in Magnacut with box elder and double gold lugs.

So hey if you ever have some thing laying around... you know... just ummmm pm me lol

20CV is very sensitive to quench rate in heat treat. Most people, using production knives, have never properly tried it. The edge stability can be much better than people realize.

I never would've known!

Thank you for the insight!

I run dumb angles on folders for work, I'm sure part of the problem is me regardless lol

I don't know what to tell you, since I can't keep all of the CRK models straight, but there is a part of me that feels bad that I 1) live in the same state as CRK, and 2) I'm an incorrigible knife knerd, and yet I don't own a single CRK. That may have to change. Although it might mostly just be out of vague sense of guilt, since I tend to be far more interested in fixed blades than folders. But I was also raised Catholic, so the guilt thing is real. 😊

I wonder what the issue is? As mentioned, I haven't experienced it on ANY other websites/forums. Every single time it's happened, it was on Bladeforums.

As I was trying to type out that post about the issue, that message popped up at least 8 times 🤨

***Managed to type this post without the message popping up.

I'm not sure, but wonder if the latest update we got is part of the issue

B blue you want me to send my spyderco magnacut mule out to you so you can give it a run??

It's no problem at all on my end
No thank you, Andrew. Mike157 Mike157 already graciously offered his Mule which I also politely declined. I hate to borrow things. Martin tried to ply me with some of his knives before I bought my first CPK and met the same obstinate response.

But I do appreciate the offer, very much.

Adam used the expression Oofta which is another slang variation of the expression Uffda which in turn reminded me of ol' man Dennis who used to go by that handle on here. I used to tease him at times about his one or two CPKs (it was an EDC1, right?) and he was a good sport about teasings and things. He has since gone from among us. "Life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quickly you hardly catch it going."

He was a character. May he R.I.P.

I still have some Slip 2000 he sent me some years ago to try out on my guns.

You definitely need to try some magnacut. It's got some fantastic properties.
