I think it’s a psy op to discredit Tinfoil Hat TimmyWhat exactly is the goal of Flat Earth? To make sure we don't sail off the end of the map?
“Assumes” as in the Formal Logic sense. In the equation X+2=Y we assume that if we have 4 as the consequent, X=2. Do we “know” that X=2? I used the word assume because if the movers and shakers of virtually every consequence-producing industry use the idea that the Earth is sphereical then I feel pretty good about a round Earth.''assumes'' means they dont know for sure.
how about video evidence?
My degree is in philosophy... sometimes it flairs up unexpectedly.I think therefore you are.
What's the MOS for "philosopher"?![]()
Whodathunkit? I took some courses at university, but most of my reading was done on my own over the years. My degree is in philosophy... sometimes it flairs up unexpectedly.
The only course I ever dropped in college. Went to the first lecture. Class spent the entire hour debating what is a "just society." No one had ever debated the equation for voltage across a resistor as a function of current. Etc. And after all that debate . . . no closer to the correct answer. Seemed like it was going to be a series of circle jerks. Dropped it the next day. Things were pretty black and white for me when I was 19.My degree is in philosophy... sometimes it flairs up unexpectedly.
how can you have a pressurized system without a container? All of the familiar behavior of vacuum chambers is on a small scale and it's more difficult to visualize the atmosphere this way. A 'Flat Earther' should still be able to derive a kinetic theory of gases relatable to pressure. They can also derive the gravitational constant using a torsional balance. Combine the two and the density of an atmosphere with elevation is obtained.
could elevation and atmospheric density HYPOTHETICALLY have to do with us being in a closed system with bouyancy and density bringing the less dense gasses of our atmosphere furthest from sea level and the densest (like oxygen) to the areas we mostly inhabit?tinfoil hat timmy a better example. Suppose you climb a mountain carrying a sealed container that was open at zero elevation, such as a shampoo bottle. Why should there be such an obviously reduced pressure at the top of the mountain? There are no partitions and the air is free to equilibrate. If you actually measure the pressure at a series of elevations, you will see it follows the model and hopefully you can be convinced before running out of air.
what consequence producing industries are you referring to out of curiosity?“Assumes” as in the Formal Logic sense. In the equation X+2=Y we assume that if we have 4 as the consequent, X=2. At the same time: I don’t have any confidence in the sever level of solipsism that leads one to believe that their skepticism reins supreme via YouTube.
I was just at the beach with a buddy who was in airborne, and an old marine who was there kept trolling him, singing raspberry beret
Was that a knock at the front door or back?
We take our collective jobs in the "Random Thoughts" thread very seriously on the CPK sub-forum. In fact, other sub-forums look to this one as a model to emulate. But just like CPKs themselves, few can hold a candle. It cracked me up seeing all the heady debate about the very nature of the world we live on, interspersed withyoko updates on the status of his chicken!

look at the edges under a magnifier and let us know how many shiny spots there areI've been using the DEK1 and Kephart a fair bit the last couple weeks - prepping firewood, in the kitchen, yard work, etc. Figured they could probably benefit from a good stropping. I pulled out a scrap piece of paper to test their edges - they sliced so cleanly and precisely that I concluded there was nothing I could do to improve their current state. So I went and made a cup of coffee instead.![]()
I think yoko was trying to lighten the mood.It cracked me up seeing all the heady debate about the very nature of the world we live on, interspersed withyoko updates on the status of his chicken!
