Hope everyone is having a great night !

I want to head uptown (shut down for bands and festivities) and everytime I walk outside it dumps rain... walk inside it stops etc

I had it all day, started at 5:30am and with no wind, it just sat over us starting and stopping all day till evening. The only times the bands stopped today was durning lightning, otherwise they trooped right on. Don’t let a bit of warm water turn you indecisive Yoko, Party On Dude 😁🍻🍺👍

It seems we must've passed your way some years back on the road to Clancy to visit Rob Simonich. (It looks like it lies along the route we'd have taken out of Bozeman.)

Here's a couple of shots of Rob, and his wife Christine. I can't believe he'll have been gone 20 years.

Yes sir you did. Smack-dab in the middle of the family stompin grounds!

Did not know of Rob until just now.
Horseshoer tells me there is another very talented maker in the state, but for the life of me I can’t remember his name right now.

Will ask the farrier and one the vets here soon about Rob. Only about one or two degrees of separation most of the time around here.
(State was a lot smaller back then too though)
My guess is I get a story or two out of them. I’ll bring back anything good.

Montana is home to several excellent bladesmiths...(or at least was...I haven't kept up with them all. Several were ABS master smiths whose work I own).

⬆️ yup, have one go off on you for real. It’s no fun.
Back in the day, when there were door to door salesmen, one literally stuck his foot in my grandmother’s door. She scooped up Tommy and tossed him to the unsuspecting guy.
It was a crash course in manners.

Just had a unique situation come up that I haven't encountered before.

I was at work last week talking with a friend about CPKs, how much I like them, the models I own, etc. I was lamenting that I may decide to let go of some knives and maybe a few other things to cover remodeling costs and my wife's unexpected surgery.

Anyway, a coworker (whom I don't like) overheard and saw the pic of my DEK2 pulled up on my phone. Long story short, he offered $650 for the knife. 😲 I made sure he understood that's more than what they sell for from the maker.

I really don't like the guy for a number of reasons, which I don't think need to be discussed. However, the funds would lessen the sting from upcoming expenses. It kind of bugs me to think of selling him the knife though. Generally, I'd prefer to keep CPKs in the community, but I don't want to be seen as a price gouger or a flipper or something.

Should I just swallow my pride and do it? (I know, I know, first world problems).

I heard a great story about Norm. Hopefully, i get all the details right.

He did a show and bombed. He told a bunch of jokes he loved, but that didn't go over very well. At the end of the show it was common for comedians that didn't do well to disappear backstage for the evening.

What does Norm do? He waits until the end of the show and then posts at the front exit to shake everyone's hand as they're leaving. The other comedians were dying laughing. Just dragging out the awkwardness. It was a joke only he and his friends were in on.

He was too brilliant for most people to truly understand (myself included). Damn was he funny. I'll miss his style.

Go for it. 75% upcharge. Even I wouldn't think you are flipping :)

Hope all goes well with your wife.

A while back I mentioned that using Coflex to wrap the bar when doing deadlifts was a great way to keep your grip on a straight or shrug bar.

Today I had to rewrap after several months and found that the off-brand I had replaced my original Coflex with was not as tacky / grippy...so in future I'll go back to the good stuff.

It's only a sample of one...but I figured I'd let you know in case any of you are using that technique.

I was more meaning if I posted it here on BF, I could see how people would think I'm flipping. If I sold it offline, nobody would know.

Oh, my wife is totally fine. I appreciate the well wishes. It was appendicitis. She's good now and it was a blessing because we found out about another medical issue in the process.

I bought a few $2 blocks of chalk from a gymnastics supply store many years ago. They still send me emails. At this point my grip is far from the weakest link so I rarely use it.
