Random Thought Thread

I was more meaning if I posted it here on BF, I could see how people would think I'm flipping. If I sold it offline, nobody would know.

Oh, my wife is totally fine. I appreciate the well wishes. It was appendicitis. She's good now and it was a blessing because we found out about another medical issue in the process.

Nobody will ever fault you for raising money for your family's well being.

Giving up a CPK in order to fix up your home, however, is somewhat questionable...and I'm gonna have to give that some thought before giving you a pass. ☺️

⬆️ yup, have one go off on you for real. It’s no fun.
Back in the day, when there were door to door salesmen, one literally stuck his foot in my grandmother’s door. She scooped up Tommy and tossed him to the unsuspecting guy.
It was a crash course in manners.
I've heard people talk about dogging someone, but this is the first time I've heard of catting someone 🤣🤣🤣

A while back I mentioned that using Coflex to wrap the bar when doing deadlifts was a great way to keep your grip on a straight or shrug bar.

Today I had to rewrap after several months and found that the off-brand I had replaced my original Coflex with was not as tacky / grippy...so in future I'll go back to the good stuff.

It's only a sample of one...but I figured I'd let you know in case any of you are using that technique.

Ever thought of using grip tape for racquet/stick sports? I've wrapped various slick handled things with different types.

Eg. I've used the cloth type hockey tape for the handles of the Cold Steel Spestnaz/Trench shovels, and I use a strip of rubber self-adhesive type on the small Irwin spring clamp I use for pinch grip training (metal spring clamp, with hard, smooth plastic overmolding).

I have grip tape on my Ivanko Gripper, (I've used a few kinds over the years),...but the Coflex just hits the sweet spot for me. No mush...all push pull.

I don't have any more hockey tape since my sticks were retired.

(I don't have any stock in Coflex...just sharing. Whatever works for you is fine by me.)

Yeah, I've used a Super Gripper for years (best gripper design, IMO). Nowadays, I prefer the knockoff with the added knurled grips (i.e. similar to a barbell, but smaller diameter). Prefer it to my Ivanko, even with grip tape.

"Hmmm...I wouldn't say no to a cold one right about now. Where's that Samuel Adams fella?"

Just had a unique situation come up that I haven't encountered before.

I was at work last week talking with a friend about CPKs, how much I like them, the models I own, etc. I was lamenting that I may decide to let go of some knives and maybe a few other things to cover remodeling costs and my wife's unexpected surgery.

Anyway, a coworker (whom I don't like) overheard and saw the pic of my DEK2 pulled up on my phone. Long story short, he offered $650 for the knife. 😲 I made sure he understood that's more than what they sell for from the maker.

I really don't like the guy for a number of reasons, which I don't think need to be discussed. However, the funds would lessen the sting from upcoming expenses. It kind of bugs me to think of selling him the knife though. Generally, I'd prefer to keep CPKs in the community, but I don't want to be seen as a price gouger or a flipper or something.

Should I just swallow my pride and do it? (I know, I know, first world problems).
If money is needed, I would sell it to the shithead. I would not mark it up for the community

After sending pics to customer support for the maker of my smoker on June 21 and not receiving any reply .... I called today

They apologized and did not know why it was not settled right away ... they're sending another smoker out and told me to keep the damaged one , so I might take it I the shop and try to fix it and maybe donate it (if I can fix)

Posting here about your concerns speaks volumes to me. A ‘flipper’ would never consider how they might appear within ‘the community’. Anyone worth dying for is worth giving up special things for, and things are worth what someone will pay. Who knows, maybe that person will appreciate the knife and grow into a better person….or trip while posing for photos with it🤣

I am glad your wife is doing well. Stay safe.

You nailed it I agree 100%

I think the opposite. He flipped it on the exchange after posting this story and asking permission. Not that anyone should care imo
