My father and mother escaped Vietnam when I was 1 year old. My mother was 9 months pregnant with my brother when they jumped on a boat to flee a warn torn country. They spent almost a year in a Malaysian refuge camp (where my brother was born) and got by with two bowls of rice and broth a day.

We were finally sponsored by a church to come to the good old U.S.A. and came here with just the clothes on our backs. It's hard to imagine how much my parents sacrificed to make a better future for their kids.

I may not be American by birth, but there's no place in the world I'd rather be.

Growing up in Danbury, CT, I had good friends whose parents are from Vietnam. They are as American as it gets.

We have the exact same story! Came here in ‘75.

Texting. Or drunk.

Nowadays, it seems like ~80% chance they were looking at their phone, and not the road.
I’m betting you’re correct on the texting idea. That’s a 90 degree corner on a 45mph country road and we get at least 2 poles hit each year there. You’d think the locals out there would know the road. I guess it’s hard to see with your eyes crossed ! 🤣🤣🤣

Clearly they saw the CPK sticking out of the pole and the magnetic attraction was irresistible. This is what Caution and Warning signs are intended to help prevent.

Somebody dropped the ball.
I used the MC to clear a couple blackberry stalks and weeds around the base (butt) of the pole to inspect it. It was sheered off, almost completely, a few inches subsurface. Meatloaf and his girlfriend (cousin) must’ve been haulin ass !

Anyone here cast silver? I had some challenge coins made for work and bought the molds. I’d like to have some made out of pure silver. I’ve got the molds and silver, just not the tools, knowledge or skill.
Thoughts?

Kevin

I don't know if you could cast silver into your molds or not.

A lot of cast precious metals are done with investment casting rather than die casting or gravity casting.

Are your molds actually molds? Or are they dies? Do they have a sprue and gate? They might be intended for coining?
