Just imagine if you were in Nathan's Ford...

The deer would've walked home and they would be picking up pieces of the truck lol

8400 lbs F450 would splat the absolute sh*t out of a deer.

It probably wouldn't make it home afterwards.

But that would have nothing to do with the deer

Thanks, fellas. Got away with a sore neck. They made it legal for folks to harvest roadkill here - just have to surrender antlers (if applicable) and fill out a permit after the fact. I wasn't able to get out of my car so I drove home, wormed my way out the passenger side and drove back in my pickup to check on the deer. I found pieces - I think someone tossed what they thought they could salvage in the back of their truck and took it home.
Glad to hear there are no major injuries ... at least to you Dylan. You need a push bar on that truck and drive it where the wild things are.

My little '13 Ram 3500 4X4 flatbed is a mere 9200 lbs, without my fat ass in it.

Us Rednexicans, here in South Texas, handle "Whitetail" with a bit of 4" Schedule 40 pipe and some square tubing...

Wiped out a good sized buck the other night going around 65 - didn't even have time to brake. I think I'm more bummed about the deer than totaling my car...

In better news, I get to go pick up my new Colt on Saturday. New gun day doesn't come around nearly as frequently as new knife days so I am pretty excited.
Dayum Dylan, glad you're ok! How far from home were you? Amazing the car was still driveable.

Yep. Those crash bars are great for deer.

Funny related story;
Back in college, GF was invited to spend a 3-day holiday weekend with her friend's family (middle of hunting season).

All the men in the household wake up, get ready and head to their stands and blinds before first light. The 2 gals wake up late, and take their time over a late breakfast, before heading to check out the few little stores downtown in the 1 stoplight town.

On the way there, BANG. Deer jumped out in front of the truck (equipped with crash bars, as wildlife on those roads wasn't uncommon). The girls go, "Oh no...", and contact the local Sheriff's office to report hitting the deer. Younger deputy comes out to take the report. "It's dead alright. Seems to be in relatively decent shape. Did y'all want to take it?". Friend says, "Ummm... sure", so the helpful Deputy puts in the bed of the truck, for the gals.

Cold day, so they go ahead, and continue downtown as planned. Check out the few stores. Have coffee, then head back to the farm. BANG. Hit ANOTHER deer. Contact the Sheriff's office again. Same Deputy comes out and takes the report. "Might as well put this one in the back, too?". "Yes, please. Thank you so much!".

They head back to the farmhouse, start making dinner, and make a fresh pot of coffee.

They're sitting at the kitchen table with their coffee, when the men start trudging back in. "Fresh coffee, over there. How'd the hunting go?".

Men all say the same thing,"Didn't see a thing all day. Just sat and froze".

Gals go, "Oh. Well, can y'all grab the 2 deer from the truck and field dress them?". The men stop and stare, unsure if it's a joke, until they go outside and see the 2 deer. 😅

I really don't like the idea of leaving a deer sit dead and full of blood and guts. It really needs to be hung and processed as soon as possible or the meat will be funky.
That was my thinking, too. Never did ask her to ask her friend how they turned out. The weather being cold, is one thing. The deer not being bled, is another.

One thing the French got right....bidets. I'm not a clean freak or germophobe, but I installed a cheap Amazon bidet on my toilet and wish I had done it years ago.

As I shared earlier in this thread, I was in Japan for a week - for that thing, you needed a drivers license and google translate. Plus, I could touch the left and right bathroom walls with both hands when sitting on it.

Thanks, fellas. I was about 5 miles away on a country road so not too far. The car surprisingly drove fine.

My brother (who works for Geico) said it was good that I didn't brake - said that he sees cars where the animal went through the windshield all the time.

I think this will buff out ok.
