Sometime between pulling off the interstate and getting home the last tire let go. We were going pretty slow I didn't even notice it.

The tires were rated for the weight on them and were not that old. They were properly inflated. But I had a bad feeling about them. I had some replacement tires (and a spare) on order but they did not get here in time for the trip.

They're here now.

Anyway we're home and no major mishaps. Just a bad alternator and a couple flat tires. And Jo is hungry and angry.
If you drove to California to pick up your next machine ... you'd have a new truck by the time you got back home. Kinda like Johnny Cash "one piece at a time".

I'm trying to find a newer truck for these trips and I was going to bid on a 2019 Ford F350 6.7 powerstroke flatbed with a gooseneck hitch as a tow rig.

There was an auction this afternoon and, since I was driving, Jo was on bidspotter for me.

She fat fingered a bid on a camper! A really nice one! I was honestly pretty stoked that we accidentally won a really nice little camper. But now they're saying there was a reserve on it and we're not getting it. And now I'm sad....

Damn. That’s one of the most harrowing transports ever.
I’m not sure I’ll be able to follow along on the next mill pick up.
My nerves are shot just reading about it. I’m exhausted and may have to call in sick today to recuperate.
Glad you guys made it home more or less intact!

Nate, I found a nice addition for the compound. The Clampetts are willing to let it go for a reasonable price....
