What kind of axe are ya looking for?

Not looking for anything too special. I was just perusing the axe listings here on the Exchange and came across a LH with a price tag that made me choke a bit.

At some point, I'd like to get a full sized axe to upgrade from my hardware store Collins that I've had since I was 18 but it's doing the job fine right now. Otherwise, I'm always on the lookout for smaller sized boys axes and pack axes. I would love to replace my Wetterlings that I let go in a trade a little while ago - that was a perfect pack axe and I hate that I let it go.

I have a coupla' fixies that are pretty close to the $1K range. Honestly? I think I like bragging about owning 'em more than I actually like using 'em.

It's not that I'm afraid to use 'em. No matter the price, my knives are just simple tools, and I have no qualms about beating any of 'em like a rented mule. For me, it's just that many of the $100/$200/$300 "hard use" fixies that I own, and those that see most of the time in my "truck box", will just simply outperform many of the "Rolex" knives that I own. (*for my uses)

Your mileage may vary.

Pàdruig Pàdruig lol yeah those damn LH axe flippers, I do wonder what those wood bullets sold for originally though. I bet it swings real nice, the head and handle really look great together.

I'm with you there - they do look fantastic. I admire Liam and his crew for what they have accomplished but I'll likely never see one of his axes. If I do, I'll be beating the shine off of it in a hurry (just not for 1000 bucks 😁)

No to the thousand dollar axe.
Much as I like knives, I wouldn’t give a grand for ANY knife unless I was very certain that I could make a bundle by flipping it. No knife is worth that “to me”. I think of myself as a user and I can always find a high quality alternative for less than that. I will say that in all my years of owning, carrying and using blades that I have never used a well built hard use knife anywhere near its peak potential or failure point and figure that most people don’t so paying for performance that I’ll never come close to makes no sense. Picture taking aside 🙃.
On the other end of that, Jewlery knives appeal to my eyes but not to my common sense as much. I currently only have one safe queen and that’s because I have yet to decide if I will keep it or not and don’t want to take a loss should I use it.

I don’t know, man. Have you ever checked out the BladeForums “Best Bowie of” threads.

Don’t tell Nathan I said that.
