I liked the cartoon. Most good humor has its origin in real life situations.
This kind of problem area can arise when your average monthly knife-bill is $1500 or so...and you don't have any money.
Some unkind folks might call that an obsession... :)
i think around here we call it a "hobby" haha

Life is great! except on Mondays. maybe when I retire Mondays will be something to look forward to. but not right now.

Just got home from work and my wife reorganized our drawers. She took all my knives and threw them in a big box. It was painful to look at. On the bright side she brought home beer

My goodness, if my wife saw all our knives in one spot, she'd put me in a big box. A pine one, lol.

Brian, here's to another Monday behind us now buddy.

Luckly my wifes pretty cool with my knife collecting. Granted she probably doesnt realize how much money she just threw in a cardboard box. I think its time to come up with a better storage solution then just a knife drawer. How do you guys store your blades?

In remodeling the basement, I put in a small room with a floor to ceiling storage cabinet right next to my gun safe. On the other side I have a counter with base cabinets and two wall cabinets for sharpening stuff. Put a metal door on it with deadbolt, kind of a nice dog house.

Thats exactly what i want to do when i refinish my basement. I was even thinking about blocking off a small section and getting a safe door for it. Basically building a giant gun safe. I just picked up a 24 gun safe and it only fit 10 rifles so i need more storage. Unfortunately i have to finish my living room and redue my kitchen before i can even think about the basement.

Locakable tool chest from Sears (Craftsman). 5 or 7 drawers, I think.

Those rolling tool cabinets that lock if you've got that many blades work good. Or sometimes a guy can just buy the top section separately. I like those because the drawers aren't real deep since they're made for wrenches, great for knives.

Great ideas. We're renovating a section of the basement to be followed by moving the mechanical room and adding a bathroom.

Then gutting a different bathroom.

Finally I'll be able to make a room in the corner of the basement where my guns, knives and assorted toys can be stored securely. Was thinking I will take thenwindoe out when we replace the exterior and add a very heavy gauge steel security door since it will be on the slab. Or maybe a different idea. So good time to read what you guys are doing.

Ive been looking at a few of the rolling tool chests, they're all just so expensive or look like crap. I like the Milwaukee one but its around $800. I started looking on Craigslist to see if i can find anything local but its slim pickings

So why has the buy, sale, and trade thread become one big chat-fest about the difficulties in finding a knife? Are the intentionally increasing the signal/noise ration so that they have a better chance of landing one? Are the mods unwilling to actually moderate?

I have a Craftsman rolling tool chest I keep my knives in, works good for me and I can lock it to keep my boys from getting into it.

AR: at the expense of being a bit cheeky, the signal to noise ration is almost at zero if signal is considered the amount of CPKs offered for sale on here and noise being considered as WTB.

That said, I don't think that those of us who got on the bandwagon earlier and sooner than others should admonish the newer comers or suppress their desires to wish for and seek CPKs. I think by reminding folks that there are not too many of them to start with and that incessant WTB will only ramp up speculators prices elsewhere, the best practice would be to be on the side of patience or to bring something to the table as trade fodder to motivate a multiple CPK owner.

Of course, I could be pontificating from my own high and mighty perch but the repeated WTB posts will also signal (or was it noise? ;) ) to Nathan that the time is perhaps nigh to look for some more expansion in the near future. But much pain comes with pushing beyond the proverbial comfort zone and maybe Nathan doesn't like the added stress.
