I've never tried one

You mean, like, in a wine sauce ? :)

Took this one a couple of years ago in front of the house in the Bay Area. A juvenile - they migrate from Alaska/Washington to South CA (e.g., Miller Lake) once a year and back.

In Dubois, we have a resident pair and there are Golden Eagle, too. Lousy iPhone photo a couple of weeks ago at the border of our property, on a bridge over the Windriver.

Lots of ospreys, too („Fischadler“ = Fisheagle in German).

Love them all.

Here's one from my front yard. July 5, 2023.

There are a few nests within a couple miles of my home.
It's eating a dead raccoon it pulled off of the road.
I've seen them hunting, but I mainly see them eating roadkill

Seeing a bird fly off with 25 pound raccoon in its clutches is still pretty cool though.
Sorry for the shitty Pic
Not as sorry as the racoon.... ;P

lol my son cracks me up. Last weekend we made a trip over to eastern Washington and we somehow started talking about eagles. I said I was going to shoot one for dinner, and he said he’s going to call the sheriff and all the policemen in the state on me to put me in jail. 🤣🤣

Noted, you've got a narc in the family. Good thing you figured it out sooner than later.

A provider friend of mine had to see a tourist as a patient. The lady brought her Pomeranian up here while visiting and let it run loose on the beach, where it got swooped up by an eagle. The lady was absolutely a hysterical wreck. Horrible to lose a pet, but to see it carried off while shrieking was too much.
There are areas up here that have slews of eagles which are very opportunistic when coming to feeding, so I always warn newcomers to keep small dogs on leashes.

We've (in Wisconsin) have had buttloads of bald eagles too the last 5+ years.
It's pretty cool.

We threaten our dog when she's being a Derp, but the eagles won't take her 75 pound Ass away

Back when I was hang gliding one would occasionally come around to investigate. Always hoped they saw met as friend vs. foe. Never any issues fortunately.
That reminds me of a large hawk that menaced me on a rock face I was climbing in the Shawangunks (Gunks) in upstate NY...a popular climbing destination in the East. Must've been too close to its aerie.

Fortunately, I didn't rustle its feathers sufficiently for it to draw blood, but it sure scared the crap out of me.

I've seen a few bald eagles here and there, but never up close. They're beautiful.

I've seen considerably more golden eagles though. Those birds are really impressive. It's hard to understand how big they are until you're really close to one. Up to a seven foot wing span!

My understanding is that the bald eagle is about the same size, but the golden eagle has larger talons. Either way, they're both gorgeous animals.

There needs to be a canned beer company named "sparkling water". And the can could like, you know, have pictures of bubbles and maybe black cherries etc. And the top of the can could be rimmed with, "totally alcohol-free nothing to see here brand sparkling water brand ™ " with any reference to 9.5% triple IPA being on the bottom half of the can under my koozie.

It would sell like hot cakes!
