That's really useful. Thank you.

Any chance on one of those mashed aluminum ones making it to a Friday sale? If so when do you expect it to happen? ;)

Listen pal! Just don’t push your luck! You get one in D3V as Nathan’s oldest time customer and I get one in MAF as Nayhan’s Most useless and PITA Uncle! Let’s just keep to our own sides of the fence, MKay! :D

^ but I will proxy for you at any time when you want as long as it does not conflict with my own greed. While not the fastest, I'm definitely faster than slow-mo Nathan if he bids on his own listings! The only time when he can beat me, is when he cheats and sneaks one outta the pile which Jo had set aside :P

Perfect thank you. Do we have the price yet?

I've looked at all the past UF / Shiv sales threads religiously and in detail. The UFs were selling years ago for 285-355 range depending on the handle scales ranging from micarta to fancy wood, single edge or double edge, very few with sharpened swedges. Material was either Elmax or 3V, finishes were mostly what we term as "satin" in layman terms.

The UFs which were offered at the recent Blade Shows, Table 6D, were literally sold milliseconds after Nathan's coffee jolt had kicked in! IIRC, all the prices started in the mid 300's (basically giveaways!). I gave you the long story so to tell you that the newer UF in D3V, albeit perhaps with tumbled finishes as opposed to that satin grind will most likely be in the mid $300 for the most basic (AEB-L) with micarta handle scales. I will give TommyG's right arm for a fully fancied one in Mashed Aluminum Foil for about $500+.

Thanks for that. That sounds reasonably priced. It's going to be very exciting!

Don't underestimate mashed aluminum foil's performance, properly heat treated. It is a thing of beauty as a bladesmith mashes and folds the aluminum foil into damashcus foil.
Is this what the Pakistanis are using in there custom blades? I remember when you could get two cuts out of a blade before needing a stone. I sure glad Nathan did his own research.

Appears there will no Pre-order on these, so I will sit back with Brother Jack (and maybe something else:)and watch the Bloodbath on Friday afternoon's. Should be Record setting, and quite enjoyable to watch:thumbsup: Maybe when the smoke clears I Can get some Ti screws for my UF:p

For Uncle Matty I will give TommyG's right arm for a fully fancied one in Mashed Aluminum Foil for about $500+. Please see statement above (My right arm will be in use)

Well dang... that's not very many UFs at all. I'd optimally want at least one in D3V and one in AEB-L, just to test the difference in what the edges can be honed to (and a double edged if those are offered, although I guess if double edged is an add-on option, then I'd just add it).

The problem is, with my work schedule always putting me on the road at 3pm Fridays, plus the desirability of these, the likelihood of snagging one in a Fri sale isn't looking good.

I've managed to get lucky on the 5pm pre-orders. No luck on the 3pm sales.:(
