To add to the above...

I've always focused on being a "combat" shooter...whether I was on SRT or simply as an agent doing a UC assignment, warrant execution, clearing a house or other edifice, or setting up a trap for targets of investigation in the street or elsewhere...where time was of the essence.

The sniper with the long gun on the team was in a different state of mind from us. The rest of us had MP5s, ARs, AUGs, and shotguns...and primarily concentrated on tactical scenarios, from Black Hawks, small aircraft, boats or vehicles.

(I don't miss cleaning them all.)
MP5's, AR's, AUG's and shotguns.....🤩🤩🤩

That reads like my letter to Santa!!! 🤣

Sorry…I brought that Giant Asian Hornet down from Northern Washington State. It was in my big ass Pelican case…that Murphjd25 Murphjd25 wouldn’t fit in. 🤷🏻

To be fair, I expected SwarthyGnome SwarthyGnome to easily hack it in half like he did that dirty 2x4 !!!

Nathan, have you considered getting a couple of suppressors? We've gotten them for several of our hunting rifles and a few handguns and it has made target practice, plinking, and hunting more enjoyable without having to worry as much about hearing damage. It's a steeper learning curve with handguns, and not all handguns work well with suppressors, but it might give y'all a bit more flexibility in how, when, and where you shoot without bothering neighbors.

I know: it's one more thing to research and deal with, but the process to get them has never been simpler than now (at least in my lifetime).
Agreed on the efficiency in the current processing time! My buddy got one this summer and he was approved in 23 hrs!! 😯

Day…um !!! That’s a pretty serious looking crew. Must have been fun at times. Albeit, deadly and miserable at others. Thank you for your career of risking yours for the rest of ours, E. Sincerely.
Thanks, Michael. Like most young men in that job, it was a combination of motives that led us to the career, from idealism and patriotism to a lust for adventure and the thrill of the hunt.

I'm pretty sure that one of those images was taken after we had taken down a group of traffickers in a house in Kendall.
We had found out, right before we hit the home, that the group, in a speed boat, was being chased by our air wing late one night in the Florida Straits.

Our Black Hawk was flying blacked out to avoid detection and went down due to mechanical failure, as best we know. The co-pilot, my friend George Saenz, was lost with the craft. Everyone else escaped...though at least one of the guys, who I worked with for a few years in one group, was never the same afterward.

Needless to say, upon hearing who the targets were, it became a bit personal...and the occupants of the home were not treated with kid gloves.
I got a small measure of payback for George that day...who though gone, is never forgotten.

Blues Blues do you watch LEO tv shows? Or is it tough to watch without picking them apart for all of the inaccuracies?
I love a good LE show, real or fictional,...but I can't bear most of the b.s. that is so far from the mark...so I often lose interest and move on.

A couple of our groups were on "Cops" back in the day. In fact one or two of the guys in the image were involved.

Loved "The Wire", (because it was very close in ways to my experience working wires, and narcotics, and also a lot of the crazy shit involved.)
Also liked the Brit show "Prime Suspect" and a couple of recent Brit shows with Martin Freeman.

I'm pretty critical of shows in general. I like a dose of reality with what they feed us.

I had a similar upbringing. Now I can't do the teacup without undue effort. But if I fire a revolver it feels a lot more natural (I never shoot revolvers).

I've never fired a suppressed firearm. Go figure.

That, dear Elliot, is a crime. You have missed out on more joy than you can appreciate.

Well, it's hard to shoot a revolver with the thumbs forward technique...at least for me. I use the thumbs locked position, similar to what Mas advocates, with revolvers. My first several years on the job were with K and J frames, so it's second nature...(with a revolver).

Once I transitioned, (self taught), to thumbs forward with my Glocks, nothing else felt right from that point on.
