When I couldn't figure out why it sounded like a pack of wolves were running on my roof this morning, I checked if there were any earthquakes in the area. Turns out there was one near Maryville, TN this morning at roughly the same time...I believe a 4.2

I just sent an email to Bart and Whitney of Volunteer Knives to make sure they are okay. (They had been kind enough to check on me during the hurricane and following storms.)

I'll report back once I hear from them.

I don't see any damage on my roof or anything obvious...so hopefully it's a non-event here.

Mother Nature is a bitch when she wants to be.

We have a 3.2-4.ish every couple months here lately. I think the big one is coming. Sure hope I’m not working downtown when it does.

We have them here frequently, and get somewhat casual about them (as in being as prepared as possible), but in 2018 we had a 7.2 that caused some damage and kept gas crews, HVAC and plumbers very busy for a while. Many folks had pipes break, as well as water heaters fall (despite straps). Lots of structural damage and cracks in walls.

I was in an elevator in Guatemala during a big one that shut down power and trapped us. We were lucky to be able to open the door enough to scramble out, and get to stairs to evacuate. Nothing bad happened to that building, but being in an elevator was not a great feeling.
