Be careful with knofes you peoples!!!

My son did this early last week when we were camping. Late one evening he was splitting some hardwood we'd brought from the Maple tree in the yard, when I heard a yelp, and when both my wife and I looked over, he had a look on his face... "How bad is it?" were the first words out of my mouth. Seeing all the blood dripping everywhere, I already knew the answer... 😬 🤦🏻‍♂️

He was doing something stupid, I'm not totally sure what, and he nearly filleted the meat/pad off of his right thumb. 🫣 An hour trip (each way) to the nearest ER and they got it all stitched up and glued back together... 😒 And our trip got cut short. Boo.

Warning, gore pictures attached. Don't click the "spoiler" button if you're squeamish!

Doctors/nurses all commented on how clean the cut was...
(but don't get me started on the "What kind of knife was it? type of BS questions... 🤨)
Definitely an odd cut. Not sure how he did that while splitting.

Glad it wasn’t worse.

Well...which knife was it?

I've done some pretty stupid knife things when I was that age (and after 👀). I'm glad he's all patched up now and something more permanent didn't happen.

That looks pretty darn serious, to me. Must have been close to the bone, too. I imagine that it will be very sore, for quite some time. I’m glad that you were able to get him patched up and that it wasn’t more serious. Is that a blurry knife that I see below his hand, in the second photo?

Was a large Busse, Forsaken Mistress, I had just freshly sharpened it too. 😬

It basically slid along the bone… 😱 No knife in the picture that next morning.

Yes they dropped last week. I heard Cabela’s has a bunch of them right now. I ordered mine online because I’ve missed the last two drops.
Sweet, I’ve been waiting for a nice camo pattern in either a Yeti or Hydroflask (yeah right) to get me a 30oz. Might have to swing by Cabela’s and spend some points.

I'm not a fan of revolvers at all. I picked up a 638 at a local gun store since they had S&W reps and gunsmiths there. The S&W gunsmith smoothed out the trigger really nice and polished a bunch of parts for free.

I shoot it every once in a while and use it to teach new shooters about revolvers, but I would hate carrying it.
