I think they understood good and evil to some degree, but that the ruling of what is, came from God. So in part, eating of the fruit was not only disobedience but a desire to determine for themselves good and evilMore importantly, how would Adam and Eve know it was bad to disobey God's command before they had knowledge of good and evil?
The Mormons would say that’s correctI think it just means god has parents.
God must have a belly button because man was created in the image of god. Ergo god has a belly button. If god has a belly button, then god was birthed. God has parents.
Yes they were told not to, but how did they know that doing something they were told not to do was a bad thing prior to having knowledge of good and evil? They were told not to eat of the Tree ofLifeKnowledge. (See below.)
They understood it to some degree but not to the degree to even know that they are naked? If you look in Deuteronomy 1:39 you can see the same phrase describing children who don't know right from wrong, who will not be punished like the adults. So knowledge of good and evil seems to clearly denote actual knowledge and moral culpability.I think they understood good and evil to some degree, but that the ruling of what is, came from God. James 4: 17Yes they were told not to, but how did they know that doing something they were told not to do was a bad thing prior to having knowledge of good and evil?

That begs the question because the entire question is whether they knew the right thing to do. It seems they didn't prior to eating from the tree of knowledge. Only after eating from the tree did they have knowledge of what the right thing to do was and so they didn't have moral culpability for their actions prior to eating from the tree.James 4: 17
So for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, for him it is sin.
They had been told what not to do and did it anyway.
They didn’t know it was bad. They were told if they ate from the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil that they would die. They ate the fruit and did not die. So God lied to them and the snake told the truth. Odd caseMore importantly, how would Adam and Eve know it was bad to disobey God's command before they had knowledge of good and evil?
God didn’t lie. Adam and Eve were created in the likeness of God, meaning his attributes not physical appearance. They didn’t know it was bad. They were told if they ate from the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil that they would die. They ate the fruit and did not die. So God lied to them and the snake told the truth. Odd case
Well, they did eventually die. It implies they would have lived forever in the Garden, but chose exile and death. They didn’t know it was bad. ExactlyGod didn’t lie. Adam and Eve were created in the likeness of God, meaning his attributes not physical appearance.
Adam and Eve were created to live forever. It wasn’t until they disobeyed God’s direction that sin entered the world.
For the wages of sin is death. Adam and Eve did in fact die.
They ate the fruit and didn’t die. The only way for them to have lived forever would have been to eat the fruit of the tree of life and become gods. They got the god mind from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The birth of consciousnessGod didn’t lie. This is Biblically incorrect, respectfully. They were created to live forever. They didn’t need the fruit to live forever. They ate the fruit and didn’t die. The only way for them to have lived forever would have been to eat the fruit of the tree of life and become gods. They got the god mind from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. they did die eventually.. you’re second sentence is a false assumptionThey ate the fruit and didn’t die. Physically die? Spiritually die? Their innocence die?He doesn't say you will eventually die, he said "for in the day that you eat of it you shall die." They didn't die that day.
Then what is the point of the Tree of Life? This is Biblically incorrect, respectfully. They were created to live forever. They didn’t need the fruit to live forever.
It was the forbidden fruit that actually caused their (and our) deaths.
