Damn, I hope he gets back on his feet quickly. Glad to hear that it wasn't anything too significant.

Sometimes you are a bada$$, sometimes not. Because squirrels can still turn tighter than English setters can think.

There are about a dozen staples under all that. Tore himself up pretty good. I could see things in the wounds that were definitely not the way the good Lord made 'em. I saw one torn tendon and opted for some professional doctoring. Fortunately it was just some connecting tissue, so he'll be fine. His ego is a little bruised. The squirrel got away clean and he feels really bad about that.

I love my dogs, He looks like a sweet heart. Hope all is well.

He's got an uncommon prey drive. Useful on the birds, but gets him in trouble now and then. We have dealt with a thorn on his eye and untangled him from barbed wire. Zero quit.

We kicked ass and took names on the HDFK production in house. I had the first round of scales and sheaths ready, a grinder and grinder open and everything prepped to have the first of the preorder out in August. Literally all of the blades (not just the pre order) are milled and deburred through all of the steps short of heat treat, and have been for weeks.

We'd been playing with a tweak to the heat treat and actually had the first 30 in place to get a modified heat treat when testing revealed the tweaks (which had looked promising at first) were a non-starter. So we scrambled with the next 80 and Jo delivered them to the heat treater weeks ago. Our protocol requires specific timing between steps and a specific oven and person to run them and that guy was out a week and had a big backlog when he came back. When running a custom protocol you sometimes get delays, but this has been several delays added together, which is frustrating.

And now a goddamn hurricane is forecast to hit us right about the same time the first of the heat treated blanks should be back at the shop. :poop:

Maybe more grey turds in the meantime? Or haul out something else for us to buy if they won't be ready. I'll pony up for just about anything. I only mention the grey turds because that was an inventive choice. Something else like that, 'cause we're like a pack of wolves, waiting to be fed!
