How many of you have the seasonal cold symptoms? I do  and have felt like this for about a week! I don’t have aches and pains, no fatigue, no fever, no shortness of breath and no coughing, dry or otherwise, but I do feel congested and my head feels a bit heavy. There are a combination of possibilities but this has caused me to keep my distance from my elderly mother who lives with me (big house, plenty of space and distance) and BTW, she also displays and had displayed seasonal cold/flu symptoms before me.

How close do you think that you are to being ordered to shelter in your places? I feel that we are very close here in San Diego county because our reported cases keep jumping exponentially but no reported deaths as of yesterday evening, which I’m sad to say will just be a matter of time. MCAS Miramar where was used to quarantine the infected citizens arriving from China this past month, has reported cases of the a few marines diagnosed with Covid-19.

I got email from my son and daughter. My son is still in Goleta. He was just checking on us. My daughter is in Oakland. She and her family are ordered to stay home. School is closed, but her son has plenty of homework.
Her husband works from home anyway, so that's no big deal for them.

I went to Safeway this afternoon. A lot of stuff has been restocked from the raid last weekend. Still no canned vegetables, soup or bread. Bottled water, TP and hand sanitizer are rationed. They had lots of cookies, crackers and meat.
There was plenty of frozen stuff. We ain't gonna starve. Not yet anyway.

we're sheltering in place as of today, voluntarily. I got the last of the crap done that needed doing around the shop and in town and we're officially hangin on the homestead for at least a couple weeks. Everyone here is fine, except Mako, whose ear we removed a tick from the night before last. Tick season, too. Fucking yay. Anyway, dog's fine now too so we're all good

It saddens me to see how the situation has turn south for you guys. I hope this will be all over for everyone soon.

You don’t really need hand sanitizer if you have access to soap (normal soap is fine) and water to wash your hands regularly. Just don’t touch your face with your hands until you washed them. This simple task can be very difficult to do but can definitely help reduce your chances of being infected. Leave the face mask for the medical workers to protect themselves. They need it more than anyone.

Social responsibility also play an important part. Stay at home if you are unwell. Isolation is the best way to contain the spreading of the virus. You never know what you thought the flu that you are having might turn out to be COVID19.

Take care everyone and stay safe.

Supermarkets here have been stripped. No fresh meats, no frozen foods. No bread, flour etc No cleaning products.
They need to start getting tough with rationing or people are going to get hungry
Where are you located? Things were hard in Spokane last week, but supply lines are restocking and people are not panicking much yet and the first drive thru testing site opened today, you just need a doctors order to get the test.

Yesterday I went to my doctor at the clinic my wife and I use to get my shoulder checked out. I was not prepared for what I saw.

Outside the mall I thought I saw a guard, but I was wrong, he was a real-deal gun slingin' police officer--wearing a medical mask.

Between the two entry glass doors were two female assistants, head to foot in gowns and medical masks replete with clear coverings for their eyes. Oh, they were polite, but I was asked if I was sick, if I had been out of the country, was I presenting any recognized symptoms and the nature of my visit.

I was then ushered to a dispensing stand, told to coat my hands with disinfectant and wipe my hands together until they were dry.

For those boomers among us, you must remember where Sean Connery as James Bond gets caught with a bikini clad beach comber and the duo is immediately forced to an examination area for exposure to radiation. Even to the point where a machine checked under their fingernails.

Obviously my "examination" wasn't that brutal, but it did give me pause. When I got home I wondered if this procedure was the start of a Brave New World. After all, people are going to get sick after this social quarantine.

BTW, my experience happened an empty, dark building with a patient waiting room also darkened and completely empty. I guess I used to snicker about fraidy cats ranting about Big Brother and "the power of the state" since the Madison area is rife with conspiracy theories.

What's it's like where you are?
