Random Thought Thread

I’m “fortunate” enough to have an essential job....police officer. It blows my mind how folks aren’t taking this serious. New Orleans, just to the South of me, has the highest “per-capita” death rate in the country. Today I had to break up no less than 3 birthday parties and 5 bbqs. I soak my hands / arms / uniform / police unit in more chemicals everyday than humanly possible. As one meme I’ve seen recently stated. I’ve used so many disinfectants on myself that every time I piss, my toilet bowl is cleaned.

what’s it going to take for folks to stop the insanity?!

I thought I actually washed my freckles off !!!! Moisturizer is a must right now. Strange times indeed right now. Just always trying to look forward to when this passes :-) In the meantime I control what I can, do what I can do, and stay home as much as I can. :-) Oh yeah and I moisturize :-)

Only problem is, they end up taking first responders, HCW and other innocents with them.

Here is the problem with some people, say that we end up with a ghastly number of deaths due to the COVID-19, like 100K which are modeled after the Italian numbers and trajectories (another industrialized country which reacted too late). After all is said and done, those with hidden agendas and no skin in the game (no one in their immediate family suffers death or severe sickness) will spin it something like this:

In a populated country of roughly 350,000,000 people, that number translate to about one third of one thousandth which means less casualties if everyone had caught the flu (mortality rate of 0.1%) which will be the first step to a telling a LIE, i.e, trivializing and then using fuzzy math for the sake of false equivalency. There after, 100,000 divided by 50 states equals, 2000 lost souls so OK, too bad but not a disaster, specially if say CA & NY take it on the chin by a factor of 2, 3 or 4 times as many as some other smaller and less populated states.

^ this sh*t just rattled off the top of my head rather quickly so when people much more malicious, insidious and evil-minded than me spin it, it will then seem that it was no big deal and that people were falsely "imprisoned" against their free will :confused: I have to be very careful about what I say because I do not want to turn this into another political discussion. Just suffice to say that when you ask what is wrong with people, the answer is that most of our people are unfortunately lowly informed and very suspicious of facts coming from experts because some blowhard with crazy-eyes eyes told them otherwise on Facebook!!!

In other news, this thread will soon hit page number 600! The first person who makes the first post of that page 600 will be crowned CPK's homecoming queen when the world opens up for regular business :D

ETA: when I was writing this post I also knew that I was playing Russian roulette :D

they way I understand it, there are some with both, if you know what I mean. Like sometimes my pot plants have nice little pistils, but then all of a sudden there are seeds everywhere. Nature does its thing, who am I to judge?

Great video, Lorien! Love that trail, though I'd probably have to walk pieces of it just cause, at this point, I'm a fraidy cat when it comes to being on elevated platforms and I can't afford anymore permanent injuries. Did you make that trail in your spare time yesterday afternoon?:D Mike
