Rare GECs

Not only threaded bolsters but there is a cut swedge on the clip as well. Hopefully something that will carry over into the GEC line, maybe eventually even long pulls? One can only hope.

Trand, how's the acorn shield on that stag? Is it inlet well or raised edges? I ask because I have a very early stainless 2 bladed Scout knife from 06. The bone is beautiful and the spring not for the slow of reflexes...:D:eek:.but the shield is raised up from the bone with a few sharp edges. Curious to know if this is a characteristic or not?

Regards, Will

Hey Will, The shield is pretty much flush on this one, no snagging edges. I think that raised shields are usually only an issue on some jigged bone and stag handled knives. I had 2 '07 Green Tea #73s and one had a raised shield and the other was only slightly raised. Stag can be an issue due how wildly it can vary. Smooth handled knives have been flush in my experience.

Don't ya just love it when you finally fill one of those annoying gaps in your collection?

I've set my sights on a fairly modest lineup here: all of GEC's standard acrylic (all short runs) on the first issue of the #62 Courthouse whittler. I know of only four for sure; Dead Skunk (9 made), Burnt Sky (4 made), Spring Lilly (11 made) and Tomato (3 made). Just landed the Spring Lilly (center knife in the pics) so only one more to go! Woohoo! (Thanks again, Greg.)

Not cool. My watersnakes stockman is fairly rare. I bought it as a user, but now I'll need to move it on to someone else and get myself a user.
Good thing it's been sitting in it's tube waiting for a slot in my rotation.

Those three make a fine collection right there, Rick!! Love that pattern also!!

Very nice Rick!!

I picked up another one of the Ram's Horn #48s.

Here is one that was made this year with spare parts from previous runs. Not sure exactly how many were made though. It's a GEC #73 in Ebony with end caps. The blades are marked as being from 2010

And this one is the prize of my collection. Its 1 of 3 2007 Factory Test Run #73s GEC made with Desert Ironwood. As far as I know, these 3 were the only ones GEC made with Desert Ironwood. I won this knife in a very generous and fun giveaway by Mike Latham. Thanks again Mike!!

I like both of those 73's Trand congrats  I think the end cap on the ebony classes it up a notch or two and that Ironwood looks great!

@2Dead - thanks for the fixed blade pics. I had no idea the skinner was _that_ much larger than the canoe.

Thanks guys!!

Mark, neither did I... I had gotten the skinner first but it felt a little big. The handles are pretty much the same as the #23 and #73 folders but the blades are a little longer and thicker.
