(Rasco's knife pic added.) Forge Expansion Celebration! -- GIVEAWAY! --

Congrats on your new materials/ forge expansion!
Thanks for a super generous GAW.

I've made these collages of a WSK/tracker style knife a while back, something I'd like to see become a reality :)
Don't mind the logo work, you can change that ;)

I would like to enter, please!

It's my first design, please be gentle, onii-san...

Hollow ground primary grind; secondary grind past the yokote is flat ground, same as we see in CS tantos. Handle slabs are cocobolo. Subhilt and guard are DLC-coated 420J2. Blade is DLC coated (if you do that sort of thing; if not, no worries). There's supposed to be Spyderco-style jimping on that thumb ramp, but I had no idea how to do that on MS Paint, which is what I used to make this image because I'm a neanderthal. :) The spine is supposed to be rounded, and the handle is supposed to look a lot less sharp and uncomfortable than it does. Oh, and that bit of tang sticking out the back is tapered down so that it can be used as a pry bar or impact tool.

I'm in, this is one of the coolest giveaways ever.

Designing a knife is way harder than I thought. Gives me a lot more respect for you makers. With that said I give you the Campanion, I know its a corny name, but it is the perfect knife to carry when fishing. Inspired by my many trips trout fishing in the sierras. After a successful day of catch and some release fishing, you pull out your Campanion, pop the top on your favorite beer. Clean the fish, make some feather sticks to get the fire going. Cut up some onions, lemons and whatever else you need for your trout recipe and enjoy the fruits of your labor around a warm camp fire.

This, as a fixed blade, with a convexed spine (instead of the concave spine the folder has) that takes a sharp drop to a reverse tanto point, high hollow ground 154CM, 0.2" blade stock, 4.5" blade, same incredibly ergonomic handle, but straightened out slightly and given a coffin end.

Edit: RIDICULOUSLY rough draft. The proportions are off because I free handed it without any real reference but I did measure out the 4.5" blade. The handle looks anemic and alien, and I'm pretty sure it's impossible to get a swedge ground like that, but, I was mainly trying to illustrate the convex spine and the coffin-end... Neither of which came through very well. Would you believe I'm bad at sketching?

I'd put the cap lifter the other way so its a blade up bottle opener

Considered several times making. Tracker but its such a well known distinct design I felt it would be weak mimickry... if you win we'll have to come up with a way to make it very personal and a bit more unique .

I know it's not quite your style. But I'm about 300 miles away from my sketchbook so this was all I could pull right now. And congratulations on your expansion!

While I appreciate the aesthetic of the forge marks on a knife as a mark of a "handmade" knife I generally avoid this aesthetic because it is too often simply the aesthetic of a lazy smith who isn't willing to take the time to refine and hand polish his blades... sorry if that offends anyone... a similar blade style and aged handle aesthetic however I definitely appreciate and would be glad to interpret

I completely understand. While I appreciate the aesthetic it would be completely wrong to ask one to do something that they didn't agree with.

I'm in! Thanks for the chance.

If I win I think I'd like something like an ESEE 3, but without a choil and slightly shorter in the handle.

Something like the above with maybe a half inch or so taken off of the handle (overall of about 7.7), horizontal sheath, and maybe green micarta scales.

Thanks again!

My phones about to die so I can't upload the pic I have but I'd love a tanto bowie in d2. I have a few sketches but I'll have to upload them tomorrow. Thanks for the chance! This is an awesome giveaway. I didn't win powerball but maybe my lucks changed:)

Oh man, I'm in on this.

Now I've got to narrow it down, but I have a few ideas.

I have already received permission from Ethan Becker for a custom BK16 in another steel. I think either of those steels could work out well for my intended use cases. If so, I'd actually elongate the handle and remove the sharpening choil (kind of like what ESEE just did with their 3 & 4). That would help get close to the work, and give more room for various grips. I'd also like it made potentially thinner (1/8 vs 5/32).

So I'd ask for the lower guard to be removed, and make the handle seamlessly integrate into where the blade edge starts at the end of the sharpening choil. I'm a sucker for a nicely grained wood handle as well. And while we're dreaming here, a tapered tang would be nice as well :).

Not my photo.

But seeing the request for a custom kitchen knife? Oh man thats interesting, while outdoors blades are what got me into knives, my kitchen knives her used far and away more often.

A nice chefs knife, Santoku, or even a Nakiri would be fun.

A nice tall 7in blade gyuto would be great, particularly if you could get the edge convexed/concave enough figure out how to not get potatoes and other veggies to stick to it.

Congrats on the expansion of the forge! Getting new gear /workspace up and running is always a great feeling :).
