Recon 1, in MagnaCut

I’ve got a Recon M1 in route should be here tomorrow 👍🏻
I’ll chime in with my thoughts when it arrives. For now I feel 250ish seems a little steep but I love Magnacut and also that it’s made in Italy . I’ve got some reallly nice knives made in Italy especially from LionSteel. I understand that’s subjective but it’ll be nice to see Italy on the blade instead of Taiwan. Taiwan does put out some quality knives though.
Anyway will see how I feel when I get my paws on it. Recently picked up an American Lawman S35vn and absolutely love it . I do know the Recon is a different animal but should be pretty nice in its own way i’m sure.
I do like the satin/semi gloss black though right out of the gate better than the new flat black “ at least that’s what it looks like”on the Italy version. But I did like when I read this “

Also for those interested I found one on Amazon for 220ish . Not sure if I’m allowed to post that here if not my apologies and mods feel free to remove my post just trying to help out anyone looking for one. Delivery though was around 2 weeks out . I payed 30 dollars more and got next day delivery and worth it to me 😆

That’s good to know that it’s made in Italy.

Definitely will be looking forward to it for sure and yes fit and finish is supppse to be really nice even having the inner handle scales contoured so there is no sharp edges although a easy fix if it wasn’t.I’m already planning a head as far as the action goes. On some of the earlier ones “Italy made” the action can be gritty out of the box so unless they’ve already addressed that I’ll do a little maintenance since all it will need is minor adjustments and cleaning/relube.
I also heard they can be a pain to take apart and reassemble so if it needs it I’m going to just try and loosed the pivot to create some space in there. Then blow it out with my air gun relube to flush it out and repeat until the action feels good. Well that’s the plan if need be and hopefully won’t have to break it down completely. I usually dont mind doing a full break down but on these it can be a little tedious, so I think I’ll pass on the break down if possible .

I find recon 1’s are very easy to take apart and reassemble. The easiest way to do what you describe is to take out only the screws on the show side and remove that scale. Careful not to mix up the stop pin and lock bar pin, they are nearly the same size. The knife will go back together if switched, which usually causes lock rock or a lock that seats too deep.

right on. sounds like a good plan for it, if needed, course.....

I thought. I read or saw somewhere the pivot screw is a little bigger on The M version and also something else how it’s retained on the inside. Might be the same on the standard R1 not sure . But yeah I could always try what you mentioned but I’m still going to try the easiest way first lol 👍🏻

Ok guys The M1 arrived and couldn’t be happier. Fit and finish is really nice as expected and action feels like glass very smooth so maybe they upped there game not sure. It came tight but smooth so I just loosened the pivot a little and put some of my secret sauce in there 😆 . No need to break this one down although still a little tight should break in nicely.
Again very happy and can highly recommend especially with my particular example 👍🏻
I really can’t find anything negative to say except she came pretty tight but a easy fix.

looks good. how's the g10 texture on it? old school cs pocket shredder rough, or smoother like the new Taiwan made recon 1s? thanks....

Definitely no pocket shredder so you’re safe . I think it’s the perfect amount of traction. I think it’s just a hair rougher but not by much . This is an all around great knife I’m very happy with it.
