I’ve heard that the Italian R1 blades are a hair shorter than the Taiwanese R1 clip points. One of the reasons I’ve been holding off for now until I see verification. Might need a graph jbmonkey jbmonkey 😂

First I’ve heard of that but if it is definitely not noticeable to the naked untrained eye 😆
 
when I get mine ill compare it to the few Taiwan ones I got. I can't imagine the tolerances are too far off between the two, but we shall find out........

if i had to guess I'd expect if we bought 4 of them they'd be slightly off from one another on blade length due to who sharpened it routine, but should be within the tolerances.....if gsm is doing their quality control as they should be......

The piviot screw is one size up from what I saw in a YouTube review . I actually don’t have the Taiwan version to compare it to though brother.

They are not silly if you like them lol.

Also it is a Tactical designed knife which favors less reflection so the coating is there to eliminate reflection. I personally like the partially murdered out look and would love an all blacked out version with no markings at all on the blade .

Ok guys and gals for the goodness of all mankind and mankind alike I purchased another Recon 1 but this one in S35 and a Taiwan made Spear point . You can definitely see that the bigger pivot screw is at least one size up. Also you can see the different texture on the scales a long with different blade finishes. As far as fit and finish my two examples are exactly the same absolutely perfect. The action out of the box goes to the Taiwan made which is due to how tight they were assembled and pressed together with the pins Being tight even when you loosen the pivot on the Italian version it was still tight. Easy Fix when and if disassembled and or broke in just wanted to make mention of it at least on my example. Love them both and may be a little biased but my vote goes to the Italian version but they are both exceptional in all areas .

thanks factor for doing that. very useful information. would ya show blade length side by side. I get different blade shapes and so not a great comparison, but I'm just curious if they are very close to one another. I would think they are, but now I'm curious to see before I get mine......

I almost bought another clip point for comparison but really wanted to see the spear point and have one a little different in my collection.

@jbmonkey Here you go brother and it’s looks pretty darn close to My eyes even in person lining them up different ways . Guess I could measure them but man it’s so close we’re probably talking a millimeter or centimeter.

thanks. yep agree. if it's anyways shorter its a hair worth.

what catches my eye is the finger notched grooves in the scales...seems the Italian is deeper and bit longer and wider. visually I'm liking it.
