Damned if you do, damned if you don't!! We comment all the time "post the person's name, etc" and complain screen names are useless. Then we someone does there's a comment that he should not have. The OP did not have a crystal ball, he had no idea the man with his money was on the disabled list. All he knew is that his communications to the seller went unanswered and he was frustrated to the point of exploding and felt he got shafted. He waited a reasonable period of time, he got no replies to his E-mails, he did what many of us would do, he posted names!!
That is true. There is no middle ground
I certainly don't blame the OP for posting here. A couple weeks with no communication, and thinking he may be out $450 would make anyone a bit concerned.
It is easy for us to give advice because we are not emotionally or financially invested in the transaction. I know personally I can get a little cranky when things don't go the way I think they should
It is unfortunate that these threads have to happen in the first place. As already mentioned, we all have things in our daily lives happen, but a seller has to remember that they have a buyers money, and the buyer is anxiously waiting for their purchase to arrive. Short of something very catastrophic happening, a person should be able to send some form of communication so the buyer doesn't feel abandoned...
In situations like this, the Mods are very good about helping, and letting the seller know what is going on, and helping further a resolution.
Granted the seller has a history here and good deals in the past, but unfortunately we have all seen long term members who had a great record in their transactions, somehow get off the track, and really change.
Not saying that is what happened here, but this is a small community and people remember things like that, and it can have an affect on how things are viewed from the outside.
Hopefully the knife will be shipped ASAP, the buyer will be happy, and the deal will have closure.
