03/22/2015 Contacts me Steve Thomas (onehunter) stating he will refund my money today. What happened to the knife?

RADs piling on post 03-22-2015, 10:01 AM

Could have pressed the PayPal Refund button and resolved this issue with less effort than his post here claiming innocence.

So, just because I don't have a lot of posts and no feedback, that makes me less able to purchase something from here?
That's kind of a backwards way of thinking. So, I need to prove myself in order to spend my money? And, apparently, if I share my opinion, my opinion is wrong? Yeah...

You said your piece, shying away and such. That is fine, no one is forced to do anything here aside from abiding by the rules. I realize you may not care or be concerned with it but here goes.
When you are part of a community, the longer you are around the more people get to know you. That gives people a chance to either form an opinion for you or against you. That is actually the way it goes, not backwards at all. As a tourist or newbie to the community, it's on you to prove your worth to the people here, that is if you cared which you have stated you are not interested. Since there is no face to face transactions happening here, or very little to speak of then you only have your integrity and your word to be judged by. People cannot get to know anyone or form solid opinions of the tourists or newbies because well, they just only now got here and have yet to demonstrate what they are like. You can do whatever you like with your money, that is your business and no one else's. You are also able to share your opinion, but again within the constraints that the rules allow. Hope that sheds some light on things for you.

I received an email from RAD just a bit ago, which included an apology for the delay and a tracking number. I suppose I'll see when it finally gets here, but at least it's communication.

Sounds like a positive step :)
While it seems clear things haven't been ideal I don't think we're looking at a situation of deliberate dodginess; if I remember correctly the sales thread specified PayPal Goods, which to me at least suggests a decent degree of interest in buyer protection and the intention of a genuine sale. I really hope this one works out well.

But you did Morrow, so now you just cost me one tissue paper......

Seriously though, posts about 'not dealing on the exchange because this happens too much here' are just stupid (no better word, sorry)
How many members actively sell on BF?
How many perfect transactions are completed daily?

There are idiots/thieves everywhere, but if you really look at the numbers, this is an important problem, but nothing even close to a big one.

I am sure you are more likely to fall down the stairs and break your neck, then lose any money by buying on this forum.
Buy the right way (PP Goods)
Research who you are buying from. (This is a very rare case where that wouldn't have helped)

Read a lot. You will quickly see most people for who they are on BF, or any other forum...

I know the whole anecdotal evidence... anecdote, and all, but I can personally attest to about 5-6 flawless transactions I've been involved with during my time here on Bladeforums. I don't post a whole lot, mostly due to the fact that I don't have much to say most of the time, but I would hazard a guess that for every thread posted here in the negative end of GBU, there are at least 20 if not more perfect transactions initiated and finished each day on the exchange here.

On the whole I feel much better about buying here than I do from, say, the bay or the jungle.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. Hope I get an email soon. Been really patient waiting this out.

To some of the posters in this thread, don't get your panties in a twist! Exchange is working well and 99,9% of transactions end up well for both sides of transactions.

I dealt with RAD once in the past, and while I EVENTUALLY got my end of the trade, I was left with a sour taste in my mouth...

If anyone took the time to see RAD's activity here, they'd realize that the guy is a FLIPPER (no knife stays in his hands for long) and the only time he used a knife for real was a knife he got in pass-around.

I guess that the $ volume of his purchases got bigger than $ volume of sales and 'the system' started to crumble...

Hope the buyers will get either their knives or $$$, and that more folks will pay attention to who they buy from (A dealer should not pass under a radar as gold member).

And folks that are in only to sell stuff here should be sent to river store or bay, rather than stink up a place that relies on trust and goodwill.

Agreed - my fault I missed the message in my inbox.

Well, I have seen enough and heard enough about this RAD character (or not heard from him - in this case). Onto the ignore list he goes.
4000+ views to this post. I would imagine he has done himself some major damage in this community. Hope that those involved in transactions with him are made whole.

Guys, thank you for jumping to conclusions. I have recently had a fairly serious hand injury, typing this alone is difficult. I will be contacting the parties involved here, thanks.
On 3/25/2015 RAD emails me saying he was advised by monitors to ship my knife and sees I initiated a PayPal dispute but that he would be shipping my knife, then gives me a tracking # . RAD has also said he would refund my money on 3/22/2015, but now he is going to ship my knife? After reading this thread numerous members have put him on their ignore list. Dr. Lecter filed a PayPal dispute over his lack of communication and non receipt of item. scottwh sent payment to Rad on 3/9/2015 and has just received a tracking # . elof_alv EVENTUALLY got his end of a trade and concluded RAD to be a flipper from his activities. Perhaps that is why 2 weeks after my payment does RAD tell me he is refunding my money(but does not). And after RAD is advised by monitor to ship my knife does he give me a tracking # ? Why would RAD tell me he would refund my money when he had my knife the whole time? Re -Sell or just change his mind and keep it? We heard his hand injury reasoning for not shipping items paid for or answering emails was just an excuse as he was sill able to post knives for sale and receive over $2850.00 in payments. But RAD could not contact members or send their items? Even with Pay Pal Protection members considering doing business with This Guy - Red Angel Dragnet - Christopher Blair - would be advised not to.

And what conclusions would we be jumping to again?

Be aware that once you cancel a pay pal dispute you can not re-open it. I had to file a pay pal dispute once for a transaction (not on bladeforums) and the seller convinced me
to drop the dispute and he would send the items, because of whatever excuses he was using. I never got the item, and wasn't able to re-open the pay pal claim.

SO.. do not drop your pay pal dispute until you have the item in hand. Could be an empty box coming to you, who knows by this point?

Exactly why I messaged RAD that upon receipt of item in described condition will I then drop PayPal dispute.

Excellent advice and nice info for us all to know.
