Agreed.

Bill,

Let it ride a while. The ball is clearly in his court now.

Speaking from experience, often times its the things we don't say and assume about others that speaks the loudest for our case and good character.

Agreed. A fellow needs time and space to rethink a situation.

Photographic Evidence Only

After laboriously searching through my old Ramanon posts, I found the Reeves review I wrote after winning the hatchett from Hollowdweller. Pics are provided.

The url is: http://ramanon.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51052

The second pic provided shows a close up of the Reeves with the course edge facing up and the fine edge facing down. Note the small dark marking about 2" below the head. The grain in that area is very distinctive. Here's the pic:

In addition, here is a post later made by Bruce on BF with pics of his Reeves hatchet:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=581258

Bruce's post is the fourth one in the thread and was made after I shipped both the Reeves hatchet and the RIV to him. Here is his pic of the Reeves hatchett:

Note the coarse edge faces left, the fine edge faces right, and the dark spot precisely matches the dark spot from my own earlier photo. Inspection of the wood grain in the vicinity of the spot leads easily to the conclusion that the same hatchett is depicted in both photos.

I have never had any business dealings with Bruche but always known him to be a good guy as is HDW. Always friendly, always responds when I email him though I haven't seen him around a lot lately.

Here's hoping there's a logical explanation.

Bruce is not active on any of the knife forums now as far as I can tell. Here is the most recent exchange on his home page, "The Badger Hole":

Interesting site. I'd like to chat with you about a sheath but can't find your email address. On your profile page, the link under "contact" takes me to a forum.
You can reach me at:

Thanks.

Thanks for your interest. I'm not currently taking any new orders. I'm taking a little break until spring arrives. I'll be in touch when I'm back in action.

Sounds like Bruce may have become over committed and taken a vacation to unwind a little before returning to settle his commitments. It's not ideal, but this sort of thing has happened to other folks before. Spring comes late in the Rockies, so I will hope to hear from him within a month or so.

I think you've been patient and a gentleman about this situation. I hope it works out.

Any new info on this?

Good time to check. I have not heard from bruche. The latest knife forum communication I find is 4/30/09 at Ramanon. That's 5 days after my GBU complaint was posted. There has been nothing new on bruche's homepage; last communication there was his 1/26/09 post to the effect that he is taking the Spring off.

Have any BF members who know bruche had any feedback from him? All I have since the complaint is stonewalling.

Sorry Bill, I haven't heard anything to my surprise...

Have you posted anything about this at Ramanon?

i had lots of dealings with bruche all very good , lots of us have, also he did let us know that he was staying away from the forums for a while and that he was going to finish a few pending jobs but that he was taking a break from making sheaths and knives for a while, you are both good guys and i hope this matter gets resolve soon.

Hey Tony. Nothing posted at Ramanon since I "resigned" and was subsequently banned. That is bruche's favorite forum though, and I would expect him to show up there first. I check it out every once in awhile, but I never post.

Thanks rio, I hope this works out to everyone's satisfaction. I'm making the generous assumption that Spring in the Rockies extends through May. At that time there will really be no reasonable excuses left.

Last year I had a close friend who completely dropped out of his "social life" altogether for a while. His friends(myself included) wrote him through the forums, emailed him and telephoned him over a period of about 7-8 months, but to no avail. He lived in a remote section of North Carolina and since we knew none of his "neighbors" it seemed like there was no way to contact him..

Then one day I had an idea and I thought to myself, get back to basics, 'I will just write him a letter.' I figured pretty much everyone who lives in a dwelling in this day and age has to open there mail at sometime or another.. I hand wrote a quick one page letter asking him about his health and well-being and let him know he was missed and to please contact me.. About 2 weeks later sure enough I got a reply letter back. Later on, and slowly he came back to respond and re-emerge online and basically told us all that he needed some deliberate time away from people in general for a while and wanted to get back to the woods to hunt and fish.

I know that this is not exactly the situation you find yourself in HDW, but my point is perhaps Ilbruche is having a similar episode. Maybe just a postage stamp, envelope, and a nice little letter would get you a positive response in this situation.

Just an idea I thought I'd pass on that worked for me before.

From his past reputation and track record its my belief that this is eventually going to work out when all is said and done.. It is my hope that it does in any event.

Best,

Anthony

I wasn't implying that you weren't communicating enough. My comment was in regard to people posting that Ilbruche was taking a break.

that was said to give hdw a heads up not as an excuse for anyone to not fufill a deal.

Thanks for the clarification. I did get that wrong. My own ethic would require that you never stonewall a customer, especially not one who has already paid for a service that was never received.
