Rockstead Knowledge Thread

I saw the prices and let out a hearty laugh. They look nice, but definitely not $1000+ nice. For the price of some of these, I'd be able to get a full custom quite literally encrusted with jewels...or more than ten ZDP-189 Enduras. You guys have your fun; happy for those of you that own and like them, but unless you can convince me otherwise, I'm gonna have to say these run a little contrary to my value-oriented philosophy.

And your point is:confused:

Try to handle one if you can and seeing and feeling is believing. But we'll not here to convince you. That's why there are production knives that start at $20 and hundreds of custom makers that make everything to cover up to $150,000 or more.

Where can i get these wooden higos? Does the hizen come in wood handles aswell?

Lamna.fi is also a certified rockstead dealer. Thats where ive bought mine.

Those Higos with wood scales look great! They look like they have nested liners or something, as opposed to how the Higo-X is done with the liners showing. Do you have any more info on them?

Those models are limited editions, and there are less than 10 of each of those made. I wish I knew a way to buy these, but unfortunately, we'll probably never get the chance to get one:(

Hah! I remember a few months ago, I couldn't tell one model from another and almost all of them looked the same to me:D Now I know all the names, sizes, grinds, etc.

I'm really wanting a Ryo and a Shun!...

...and a Don, and a Sai, and a Tei, and a duralumin Higo, and a micarta Higo, and maybe even the Shu too;):D

...hell, I want em' all!!!:D

It's hard for me to want anything else now that I've experienced Rocksteads. I plan on making a lengthy review of my Chi and Higo sometime soon, but there's just so much to write about! Perhaps I'll do a video:D

It's been over 20 days. We want a review and pics :)

Around 4 or 5 years ago, a TEI-TDZ auctioned on eBay for around $11,000.00.

Here's my little review of the Chi.

Please excuse all the "Uhhhhh's" and "Ummmm's"...it's hard to record, manually focus you camera, handle a knife, and talk at the same time:D

^^Holy mother of freaking pearl that blade is like dark shiny meteorite goodness!!

Wow never seen a blade like that.

Incredible, I wonder how it will hold up to use.. Damn that blade is so pretty I don't think it's meant to be used lol

Nice review, because of you I am seriously considering one. Its really cool to see members in their natural habitat and not hiding behind their computer.

Great review Blues Bender. If anyone was on the fence about this one, having a chance to look at it in hand for awhile could easily push them over. The Chi is definitely on my list. And Stevie Ray in the background.... He is one of the few I really do miss.

As for the question about the serial numbers, my ZDP-189 Higo with ironwood scales is number 467. Mike

Finally arrived [emoji3]

Feels great in the hand, no hot spots and perfect size for my hands and needs. Ill try it out later, off to work now.

Thanks for taking the time to review the Chi Blues Bender. Feel like this could be the next model for me. Wasn't convinced I liked the scales until I watched this.

Honest question for you Rockstead owners: do the mirror polished bevels behave differently from regular knives with respect to accumulating the adhesive residue when used to cut packing tape? Also, is the DLC any different in this regard from the polished raw steel? In a lightly used knife this is my chief minor annoyance.
