Rockstead Knowledge Thread

Personally, that was a decent deal imo. I was trying to avoid you from getting an infraction:thumbup:

Seems like a reasonable price. I really like the look of the micarta, but the lack of clip would be a deal breaker for me.

Edit

I watched your higo review and that's a sweet knife! The belt sheath is nice!

I don't have a Kou, but I have a Chi (the next size up from the Kou). Personally, I find the Chi to be "perfectly small", and if it were smaller, I don't think I'd like it. Beschcode basically had this same problem. However, I can't speak for you, as you may feel differently.

These pics will give you an idea of the size difference between those two models. They scale out to compare the differences in size.

Yup the Kou did just fit my hands and i would say that i have medium to small hands. The Blade felt just a lil bit to short and i feel that the Chi fits my hands better. The Chi is the Size between the kou and higo. After owning these 3 i feel that the Chi fits my hands best.

does any1 have one of the fixed blades from rockstead and could give us some insight? any review vids out there?

Here's my little review of the Chi.

Please excuse all the "Uhhhhh's" and "Ummmm's"...it's hard to record, manually focus you camera, handle a knife, and talk at the same time:D

I've watched this a few times now and really making me want one next. I know you've explained previously in this thread what you use to touch up your blades but do you think you could take a video with a narrative next time you do? I want to really understand your method and do it myself rather than relying on sending it into Rockstead.

Anyone know what size hex wrench(s) are needed to dismantle the scales from the JH-Higo? Looks like 2 different sizes?

That's a mighty fine idea :)

I feel the same way about my Higo. Nothing I've ever owned (and have owned a lot of customs) have compared. Also a keeper.

I'll work on it, guys:thumbup:

I have the urge to buy me another rockstead again. Last time i started with the Higo in yxr and got me the kou in zdp short after but sold both of them. Now Im leaning towards the Higo in yxr.

Does the shun come in yxr-7 steel?

Not that I'm aware of. So far it's only been ZDP and it appears that Rockstead may be discontinuing it based on their site. "Production was ended and there is not a stock either. This model was comleted the reservation. Thank you very much."

Maybe the Shun was a limited run only knife?

As far as I know, the Shun was not limited. I believe the following message was due to a slight delay in production.

"To our dealers

The SHUN-ZDP was completed the reservation on SEP 20. Thank you very much for your reservations. We will deliver the product right after our production is finished. Please be waiting for a while.

To customer
If you would like to reserve this knife, please contact to us. I can introduce the dealer near your country."
