I got a factory second BK7 that was obviously ground too high. Well...saved me the effort! And probably way better than I could ever do lol.
It's a WIP...

Awesome! I'll start a thread for this one like I did my 5 and 20 and keep it updated with pics of course! Thanks for that write up, it will help. I'll be clamping it vertically and removing it with a Bridgeport endmill. I think I'll put a sharp 90 degree spine in place of the thumb ramp, so I can strike some of them there fancy sparky sticks!
The more I look at it, the more that thumb ramp growing on me...![]()

I modded a bk10 before I bought the 12, including removing the ramp. I liked it much better without the ramp, but I really like the ramp on the 12. Other than removing the coating, refining the edge, and upgrading the scales there's not much I'd change about the 12. Play with it for a while before you grind off the ramp. You can always grind it off down the road, but it'd be tough to ungrind if you decided you really liked it.
Sooo Monday morning we should see some pics of your magic, RightYou got a point about waiting to grind that ramp off. I'll strip it for sure and throw those micarta scales/SS hardware on as well.

And you thought I was just pretty...

Just a heads up with the micarta, I don't think the brass weights work without drilling out the micarta.
Well, maybe he can send me a brommeland sheath for it!
