S.W.A>T. Guardfather ... piece of junk

Robert seems to have a great reputation. Many have posted here recommending him. He must run a good business indeed. One thing that I do see as missing from him is an apology for calling Bagheera a punk. Maybe it was done in the heat of the moment, but it was wrong and he should be man enough to face up to it.
 
I have to throw in my 2 cents too... Robert at The Bright Edge is an outstanding guy to deal with. Always prompt with emails and willing to work stuff out. I have to say that i've never had such personalized service from a dealer before.
 
People can make up their own minds, I have, and the least that could be done Robert (brightedge) could apologize, IMO.
 
That is correct that I lost my Mind or cool and said some things that I should not have and regret. For that Bagheera, I apologize for getting mad and letting it be seen here.

I am however not very happy when all inclination and speculation on several of the members here was to tarnish my reputation and rip on my site.

I treat every order no matter if it is $10.00- $10,000.00 with the same respect and care. It is your order and that is what is important to you. In this case and every future case like this, if you did not buy it from me I have no obligation to offer you any service. If I do it is cause I want to. This is the busyest time of the year for me and Mr. Bagheera problem and e-mail was a very low item on my priority list. Is a little over 1 day too long to wait for a e-mail answer as to the phone numbers of company's that hardly anyone can access? I don't know how you could get a number, web site etc. for SWAT? You can't find it anywhere.


I can only do what I can with the merchandise that I get from reputal people. I don't think there was some large take over the knife industry planned with these spikes from anyone. I removed the SWAT info from my site... well just because if it could be wrong I don't want it there.

I did remove the items and am sending them out to 6 members here that supplied me with there shipping info. Well over $200.00 worth of spikes! I could care less about the money, not that I don't need it. I am a regular guy like all of you. I have a regular job, family, bills ex wife etc. If I can get my business to thrive I will in my mind be a success. I have invested every penny and all the time I have into my business. If you take a look at the stuff I carry you will see that I have a inventory that is second to none on the lines that I carry.

I am a very easy going guy!! I am also the most hot headed Italian you have ever met. I don't take crap from no-one and will protect my family and property to the end.

I make deals on a daily basis with lots of people that come out good and bad for me. I trade people for knives that when they arrive are less than what they say and the value may be $100's of dollars less than we agreed on. Most times we are able to work it out. Sometimes not. you have to learn from the bad and smile with the good. Never have I had a problem that has gotten so out of hand as this over a $40.00 item THAT I DID NOT EVEN SELL TO YOU!! Mr.Bagheera, I think you have to evaluate how you do your knife buying business. You took a chance when you purchased something on the secondary market. You chose to try to save money or whatever and you are unhappy with what you got. You did not get it from me. If you got it from me you would have gotten an e-mail that says you have to agree that I am sending you this item internationally and I am under no obligation to take care of any problems you have with the merchandise. You are responsible. That does not mean that I wouldn't fix replace or exchange something. It just means that I don't have to. The guy that you got the spike from is a great guy and buys a lot of stuff from me. He knows of my reputation and would not hesitate to contact me if something was wrong or did not work right.

As I have taken all of the spikes apart to ship to you guys I have noticed that there is a chance that if the spike base got pressed over the spring by not operating it properly this may cause your spike to not lock up. Again if you will try to get the end cap off you will be able to see how easy the mech. is and how easy it is to rectify.
 
Robert, it is obvious that you have earned your reputation as someone that is excellent to deal with for good reason. We all lose our cool every now and then and in this circumstance it is very understandable. You felt your good name was being wrongly attacked and you reacted in the heat of the moment. If I had put everything I had into a business like you have I may well have reacted the same way.

Have a very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year and while your at it, get to work at getting all those blades and handles tested. ;)

I did not see the value for the customer to get the knife and sell it for around $200.00 do you? I do however feel the $100.00 you paid was more than fair for that knife. So I hope you realize and take what I said about SWAT products the way I meant it to be? Do they "SWAT" make the best stuff out there? Not a chance in heck!! Do they make OK stuff for the money after I discount it 50%, sure!! Is it worth it for me to carry SWAT stuff? No way!!

For those of you that posted remarks on my web-site!! Very nice!! I would not care if you actually purchased something from me and were unhappy or I did not remedy the situation. I did nothing to you and you took your hate and anger off this forum and thread and on to my website!! That is wrong and I am sure you are not about to apologize for that so may I say I hope you get a very large and painful sore in your groin area that oozes puss and lingers for years!!:mad:

Very sad to hear that your web site was apparently attacked by possibly "over zealous" members here. I attempted to search for the remarks that you mentioned on your web site but could find no remarks page but perhaps you are referring to e-mails sent to you. In any event if persons not directly related to the issue mentioned at the beginning of this thread (or customers of yours) sent you hateful messages/e-mails then it is very bad form and quite unfortunate. Based upon what I have read here and the merchanise featured on your web site it appears that attacks against you are most likely unfounded. It also appears that you and Bagheera have mended any initial misunderstanding.

Youre all so quick to jump on the bandwagon while having nothing to do with the circumstances...pity you dont use your energies to save the whales or something else but try to put a damper on someones livliehood [sp?]
anywho I have spent a few thousand with Robert and will vouch for him 100% a real freind and a good honest businessman.

Robert of TheBrightEdge is a great friend and a superior business man. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anybody and know he is first class all the way.

Before writing such a comment I think you should at least read through the posts.
Although English is not my native language, I know for sure I never asked Robert to service the Guardfather that the French forumite sold me as "Guardfather" and when I told him (the French Forumite, that the so called "Guardfather" could not be a "Guardfather" he said he bought it as a SWAT Guardfather from the site I later on posted about.
What I do know is, and just read the posts that I found the so called "Guardfather" advertised as SWAT Guardfather from Advanced Technologies, Phoenix Arizona and that's a fact not fiction.
I just asked Robert for a telephone number, thinking that he as SWAT Guardfather seller would have this, period, when I was 100% sure that the colored spikes couldn't be from SWAT I emailed him that.

Robert removed all mentions of the SWAT Guardfather from the site, we all read about it.

What I don't approve of is the sending of "hate" emails to Robert from Thebrightedge, even thow he called me PUNK first, for which he apologised and which I accept, I never called him names and I don't think other forumites should do so.

I can also vouch for Robert. I have many friends who have spent many a hard earned dollar at his website and have always been completely satified with both product and service. For people to attack him over one mistake is immature. Everyone makes mistakes at some point, its a fact. Sure, he lost jis cool, but he's a grumpy old Italian, what do you expect?:D I have also spoken with Robert personally. He's a first rate guy with a great sense of humor, whose rep should not be tarnished over something like this.
 
I apologize for being a 'Johnny come lately'. I've just finished reading through the 4 pages of this thread and still don't know how or why Robert of The Bright Edge was 'dragged' into this complaint from the Netherlands in the first place? All I do know is that I've ordered twice from Robert, spending over $850 of my hard earned money, and being very satisfied in the process! If I had any questions about the items I was ordering, I'd e-mail him and receive a phone call to answer those questions and be asked if there was anything else he could help me with. I think Robert is one great and friendly businessman and I will continue to order from The Bright Edge as long as Robert is the one I deal with!
 
I have no idea why people that don't have a clue about how someone runs their business would feel they have the right to post crap feedback on this persons website. It certainly shows what kind of pinheads some people are.

Sorry this has happened to you Robert. You do not deserve this kind of treatment.

Bagheera, as a scout, i would expect you to think differently and objectively. You did not purchase it from robert, take it up with your friend who sold it to you. robert was told these were swat from his distributer, who had sold him other swat merchandise, so why would he doubt them? I know all you wanted to do was get a phone number, but thanks to bladefoums morons this had to keep going.

Cougar Allen, as a moderator i would expect you to read the posts fully and understand them before responding, and then by your response this topic hit the fan. never was it stated that bagheera, purchased it from robert.

Blade fourms as a whole, why do some of you decide it get in on a matter that has nothing to do with you. None of you have anything truly bad to say against rob, becouse he has not done anything to any of you. and those who went to his site and posted reviews of items that were just ment to turn away customers, that is poor judgement and really shows on your character.
 
There is no better person to give your money to than robert.

Ok, so let me get this straight,...


Brightedge is a fair and honest company to deal through,
Paragon spike (knockoffs?) are crappy, and stay away?
Swat spikes are better, or-kinda, but they have 0% customer service, so, there ya go... (I've owned a SWAT balisong, Pretty descent..)

or, is that true...??

I have one black Spike. Not sure if its Paragon or Swat. It was purchased from Robert at TBE. I have attached a picture above. Here is my honest view of it. With what this thing is, I am not sure how one can be better than another. Its a hollow tube, a metal spike with two ridges, a spring and a tail cap. Chris Reeves could make a Spike with the same construction and I don't see how one could be better than the other. Materials and spring quality I guess?? I am glad this thread came about for one reason. I have had my spike for about 8 months and never really try to take it apart. It fired like a champ with no problems at all, but since I recently had it apart, I decided to give the spring a stretch for the heck of it. Now this sucker almost Flies out of my hand it fires so hard :D
