Sad day for my Sebenza

I'm glad you edited out that bit. That would have been a pretty insensitive thing to do just to prove someone wrong on a forum.

While I didn't read every post on this thread, the "Neenah Wisconsin" manhole cover could be anywhere in the U.S. as thousands of covers were made at this foundry in Wisconsin and used all over North America.

The great lakes states used to be part of steel country, although foreign imports have decimated the American steel industy.

We can scratch one indictment from j413760's list of "lies". I have no idea about the rest!;)

Maybe it's just me, but if I had any doubts on the validity of the story I would communicate my concerns with the person in question via email first. If there's no response or suspicions are still there after email communication, then it would be OK to raise the topic and make a public accusation.
But as of right now, James0723, you are not giving OP any benefit of a doubt. He did not ask anybody for anything, all he did was share his grief with a community of people who can understand his frustration better then any other web community out there. All you did so far was act like a complete ass. Who da hell delegated you to investigate this? What possible right do you have to go around throwing worthless accusations? OP shared his grief with us, you either show the man some compassion or shut the hell up.
Your response to someone's loss is simply disgusting.

I'm sorry RxEnergy but this isn't the first one of these posts I've seen where someone tries to con people into feeling sorry for them and donating money or a free knife.

Everything this guy wrote on here was designed to make us feel sorry for him, aside from the main story, he tried to use trivial things like him not having a knife store in his hometown and claiming to make minimum wage. It was just too much.

Have you checked out the pictures of his mustang? He also owns a Jeep and a several thousand dollars worth of aquarium equipment and exotic pets like sugar gliders that he breeds and sells. Does that sound like someone making minimum wage?

He may have been telling the truth that he knew someone who died, but the story about the Sebenza wasn't true. This guy is a salesman running various scams, almost every interaction he has online is to sell something or make some kind of profit, and you should be angry at him not me.

All of that may be true. BUT, if there is one chance of the story being true, you shouldn't accuse anybody of wrongdoing until proven guilty. A warning to other members posted in this thread would've served the purpose just fine. It wouldn't offend somebody who might be in grief and it would scare anybody trying to run a scam away. IMO.

Excuse me; but James0723 your a real JERK!
I don't care if the story is true or not, in any case its not your place to pass judgement.

Mods please move this to the proper forum, W&C.

So I'm a jerk for calling out someone who is not only lying in an attempt at material gain, but exploiting someone elses death in order to do so?

It was him who suggested that we start a donation fund to replace his lost Sebenza. Doesn't that seem odd too?

To replace his lost Sebenza, that he was carrying on the waistband of his boxers, and that's titanium clip broke (and still remained in place under his elastic boxer waistband) causing the rest of the knife to fall down his pants leg and onto the ground without him realizing it...

Also rereading this thread I look a lot meaner than I am because he edited all his posts to say things like "Goodbye" "Love your friends" "Thanks all" instead of what they originally were, which were his attempts at explanations and evasions that made him seem questionable.

No, you're a jerk for the way you did it, you're evidence that he's lying is every bit as circumstantial as his evidence that he's tellling the truth. He may have been lying but you don't know for sure and there was no reason to act that way.
In any case this thread is no longer knife related and should be locked

Like I said I look like more of a jerk now because he edited all his posts. He deleted everything he originally wrote and wrote things like "goodbye" "Love your friends" etc.

Before at least one of his (now edited) comments was suggesting we donate him money. So he actually did ask us for something RxEnergy.

Is this what a person telling the truth does? When they're called into question they refuse to give info or proof that could clarify the situation and instead delete their story?

Yes, you are right. You are the hero of the day.

Now please stop bumping this thread, your glory will live on forever. Trust us.

But feel free to contact the relatives and friends of a random deceased person, they will definitely care about someone trying to get a free pocketknife. And the FBI will certainly investigate.

Okay hold on. I NEVER post here, I mainly lurk but I just want to say something.

It IS possible for a knife to fall down the pant leg and not be noticed. I had that happened to me just a few days ago. I went frantically looking for my knife and it was found, on the grass by my truck. As I figure, the seatbelt must had pulled it upward....

AND... from another forum a member there, who I had a mis communication with (we managed to both apologize) found out I had only a few knives. He offered me his edc! I never asked, I never gave any kind of hint that I wanted any knives. I even told him that was too much to gift to me. He just said he was in a good mood and wanted to add to my collection, commenting that he never had such a hard time giving away a knife. I offered to pay and he refused but finally accepted shipping. And right now, I have it here with me and I cherish it. BECAUSE of his kindness.

So sometimes just because someone posts that they lost something doesn't mean they want something for free. I didn't.

Don't worry about his deleted posts. I think those that have been following it know what's going on or can get the idea.

I think he deleted it because not only is he hurt but he's feeling like he was made a fool of.

Not really pointing to you, but I think with all of the challenges, he probably felt real bad. And that's not very nice. :( He's already hurting.

Well at least this thread wasnt a total loss - who else is busy surfing that Dumpster Sluts forum???

:D:D:D

So how do you explain the broken titanium clip that he claimed was still there?

He's not hurting at all. Think about this: His best friend, who he claimed to have been best friends with since infancy, just died 2 months ago, and all he cares about is an f'n knife? That's all this post was about, the knife. He didn't even mention the alleged friends name until I pressed him on the issue. He was also making jokes the whole time, saying "lol" and making comments like "I think maybe my dog swallowed it so I've been checking dog poop". If this did really happen I think the ghost of his dead friend probably stole the knife from him for being such a selfish person and only caring about a material thing when he died.

Also do you think he'd react the way he did to my questioning. Being evasive and deleting stuff when, if this really happened, he could easily have posted proof.

I don't believe this story. I think you're probably just trying to scam people into donating money to you or selling you a cheap Sebenza.

This isn't the first time I've seen someone do this. Like that one kid that posted on here "I just lost my only Buck knife and I have no money to buy a new one" and people gave him free Buck knives.

For one, you don't have a lot of posts here. Secondly, the Sebenza is supposed to be a very high quality knife, how could it just separate from the clip like that?
Third, you say he died 2 months ago and this happened between now and then, seems a little too coincidental.

On the slight chance it is true I apologize, but this post set my BS detector off.
Your bs detector must be off if you're aiming that lost buck to me.
I personally believe his story why do I believe? Because I can relate to his problem sure not at an empathetic level since my knife wasn't a gift nor did I have any of my friends die. You seem to act like a detective with your google there, but everything you hear on the internet isn't true all your points could be made with anyone and your manhole theory was already disproved. If all you're going to do is argue then you might as well leave since so far it's a losing battle on your side.
Most of the people on this forum are nice enough to give a you knife I recieved a knife from a user when I lost a buck, and all that did was draw me closer to the forum and motivate me to help the forum expand grow (if thats possible). Did I ask for the knife NO is this guy asking for a knife NO so stop acting like his story is a lie.
Edit: Read your post on top of this on.
you obviously sound like you haven't lost anything of sentimental value since that f'n knife you call had tons of sentimental value to him, and he lost that, that knife probably let him remember his friend and he lost that important link.

James, people deal with things differently. He's had two months to really mourn his friend but when he lost the knife, which was representative of his friend, something he felt he should have been more responsible for, it was like.....another blow.

Imagine a widow who loses her wedding ring. She's going to fret over that. It's something special that was given. As for the clip, I didn't pay attention to that part but maybe he was trying to make light of things, it's a coping situation.
I don't know. I'm just suggesting different scenarios.

Maybe I'm just a softie.

Either way, he knows what the truth is. And if he's fibbing or if he's telling the truth, it's within himself to face and deal with right now.

You guys are falling for a lie. Do you realize that?

Yes, that happens all the time in the knife community. Some people notice and take advantage of it.

And the guy actually was asking for donations to buy a new knife so your last sentence is wrong. You would be able to see that if he hadn't deleted all his posts.

I read his post earlier when the thread was just made I didn't see him ask Was it in the OP or in a post? I do see he did edit all his posts, but don't go accusing other people too.

James, was it MY sentence that you were saying is wrong? This one? And if he's fibbing or if he's telling the truth, it's within himself to face and deal with right now. (or were you not referring to me?) Anyway, I still think he is the one that has to deal with the truth or the fib. Whichever it is.

Oh and I understand about people taking advantage of the generosity of others. I've seen it happen before. And I realize that your intention is to not let it happen again. That is commendable of you.

Those who want to donate will do it out of the kindness of their hearts. And if they get burned they didn't lose out. Because then they have learned a lesson. So it's not in vain.

Trust the intelligence of the members. It's up to them to decide what to do. :)
