Aloha!

Wow. That blade is beautiful! Bravo

Great work, victor! Sorry the Chris Reeve community isn't that warm to your modifications -- apparently the most vocal members prefer vanilla rather than chocolate.

How did you do it?

It had a rather fine base finish, I got away doing everything by hand.

Simply use decreasing emery grit, make sure no previous scratch remains before progressing into next. On my Insingo, tested finish under original stone wash appeared to be a dirty 600'ish grit finish. I started with 400 to remove all remnants of stone wash, moved up to 2000 enough for a dirty mirror finish. After, hand buff with various compound to further refine the imperfections and the result is posted.

Probably a secret:rolleyes::p

Anyway, nice job victorf. We've had our disagreements in the past, but you definately impressed me with this mod job. Looks great:thumbup:

I joined various forums to share, to give back what I have learned from some very talented and generous Senseis I'd crossed path with! If not for a few disrespectful individuals, I would have gladly posted the handle slab interior mods! What I'd done was no secret, just basic machining 101, took advantage of space available behind handle slabs. Any capable machinist/toolmaker type would have been able to come up, add with their own twist. I don't want to dwell on the distasteful encounter, so, just leave it at that!

No problem, it is perfectly ok we agree to disagree! Take a real man to putting our slight disagreement behind, right on! And thank you for your compliments!

Looking at the pictures, I need to further refine the RIL. But since I am planning to work on my Yojimbo tody, it will have to wait a bit!

Aloha! :)

Thanks. It is nice victor. Did you polish with the blade in the handle, a jig...? Did you go up in 200grit increments? Finally, what types of polishing compound did you use? Thanks again!

That is not really my style, but I appreciate the craftsmanship and think you did a great job creating your vision. Cheers!
