sage 5 compression lock in honor of Sal...

I am sure it would be s30v like all the others, since they have done wood, titanium, carbon, and g10 I would like to see micarta

Thumbs up!! +1,000,000 times on this idea. Comp lock on a sage would be an instant classic. But what handle material and steel would go along with it? Carbon fiber? S90V?

I would buy more than one of these if they were made with a compression lock, but I'm guessing the next one will be either a button lock, or a slip-joint. Sal is too humble.

I prefer M390 or 20cv, but since all their other Sages were s30v, It would be easier to continue the series in the same steel.

Its true that m390 is a better cutting steel. but if you tone back the cutting for a bit better rust resistance and stronger material than its more balanced. I like m390 but it wouldnt last a week where I live (sea water in the air is murder on knives) M4 is a little more balanced but still has a strong cutting steel. a minor step down in cutting preformance to make up in other fields. Still better edge retention than most steels

I think you might have those two steels mixed up. M390 is a pure stainless whereas CPM M4 is not.

why not integral titanium comp lock ?

and fluted obviously.

They changed up the handle everytime ;twill woven cf, Ti, g10 and wood. How about we stay with it and make it canvas micarta. I love how micarta gets even grippier when wet

m390 is much better for rust resistance, think your mixed up

Hi Owl,

Thanx much for the kind words. I'm sure we'll make one in time, but we'd like to get the others out first. We have locks that we invented years ago that we still haven't been able to get into production (Stop-lock). We just came up with another new lock idea last month.

ok i dont want to flame you in the slightest however i hold in my hands a blue sprint para 2 that i have had for just under a month now a tan manix sprint i have had for probably 2 weeks maybe more

firstly i have no idea where you got the idea that m390 rusts BECAUSE it does not so far i would relate it to 154cm or vg-10 as i have done food prep including lemons apples etc and i have literally just shaken it with one quick snap of my wrist to get droplets off and i have put it back in my pocket i only wash it off after edc tasks before food prep and i never wipe it down MOREOVER not a SINGLE drop of oil has touched ANY part of this knife since i got it

the manix have been treated the same except less use has gone on this knife than the para and i got it used with a patina on it and i saw some "red rust" on it last night thus i had to oil the blade

in conclusion m4 rusts like a carbon steel cause it is and m390 as of yet (mind you i live on the coast of Florida so it doesn't get much more humid or salty air than where i am at ) has not had a SINGLE hint of rust in any way not even a patina

sal

but sal we have a cult like following for the comp lock and your face so pl0x do one with a comp lock and a sweet colored micarta and if at all possible maybe throw in a cool steel but since the "sage" is a s30v knife line i respect that

believe you me and my dog roofis when we say that the comp lock is pure genius that needs to be recognized not only that but it will sell like a lady of the night on a naval ship
that has been to sea for an extended period of time that is to say a lot it will sell a lot

and if thats not good enough for you imagine the joy that will envelop my being when i open that box and see one (or twelve :D) of those sweet &*% red and black spyderco boxes and open it up to see a little family of micarta (with a sweet color) and the fantabulious comp lock

will you really deprive me of that joy WILL YOU no, no one with a heart of gold/platnum/puppies such as your self could do that

also i TRIPLE DOG DARE YOU NOW YOU HAVE TO DO IT MUHAHAHAAHHAHAHHA
