Sal saves the day!

Hey that's fine.

While all of y'all are crowing about how great the service is, remember I had to raise 4 kinds of hell and find the owner...

Just saying..

I actually agree with this dude. Had you not done that, you probably wouldn't get your knife replaced. I've dealt with spyderco's customer service in the past and I have to say, it's a hit or miss. I dropped my Spyderco manix 2 XL from taking out in my pocket and the G10 on the left side cracked. I emailed and I was told to send the knife back to them. a few weeks later I got an email saying the knife is un-repairable and should be retired. long story short, I purchased aftermarket scales.

Honestly its the internet culture that makes everyone impatient now days. You can pick up your phone and instantly be connected to almost anything or anyone in the world. Combine that with the whole " customers always right" mentality and we have a situation where the op thinks that three days is an unacceptable amount of time for an owner of a multimillion dollar company to get back to him about something that made the company 20$ when it was originally sold and in the end probably cost him money to fix. Whatever original complaint you may have had as far as the customer service is now mute. I can only imagine that you fired off a strongly worded email after they didnt get back to you in a half hour starting a process of a bad interaction up. I bet you have a long list of companies you dont deal with because they were rude or some other poor interaction occurred just based off the original post and how you dont let companies push you around. Perhaps you should ask yourself why they happen and gain a little patience in the future. This is the real world and sometimes you dont get an answer in ten minutes to every question you pose.

Wrong Francis.

I said a strong word to the lady on the phone.

I called the person running their Facebook page "Princess"

Had my brand new Humminbird depth finder for about 3 months. It quit workin. Told Humminbird I catch bait with avast net and it gets water dumped on it every time I bring the net in, asked if they would repair it. Told the lady I needed it back pretty quick because I was booked to fish. Overnighted it to them, they overnighted a brand new the same day they received it no questions asked.

Xcel wetsuits. Bought a new Xcel for one of my employees. He had a brain fart and tried to put it on with the zipper about 4 inches from all the way open. Told them this, asked if the could repair it and send me a bill. The sent me a brandne one no questions asked.

Sal is the man no doubt.

I apologize for putting him thru this.

I did send him an email yesterday with no response.

I do not apologize for what I said to his employees.

Spyderco in my dealings with them has been nothing but professional, courteous and above all else prompt. Truly a first class organization, it sounds as if the problem lies somewhere else. "Hint"

All Im saying is that interactions go both ways. Perhaps you shouldnt say something to someone that you wouldnt want them to say to you in return. Im sure if I called up your charter service and demanded a refund you would issue it no questions asked and if I used some strong words with you or your employee over the phone you wouldnt even notice you would just return my money or book me another trip no questions asked.

Oh, He pooped again!!!

Thanks Sal for putting up with the BUTT. Hopefully he goes away soon.

I will carry my PM2 today for all Spyderco employees who take crap from impatient customers.

It all comes down to manors and how you were brought up

I personally would never use profanity directed at a woman over the phone unless she cussed me out ...... Which I doubt she did to you and if she did I would be more shocked than anything

Sounds like your hard on your stuff which is fine it's your stuff .... But don't expect everyone to jump when you need service.

I have found that most things in life can be resolved when people speak respectfully to one another

I have carried blades in hard use applications my whole life and I have not had your problems ....... I also do carry a multi tool in the field for using in none knife applications :)

Good luck in the future and I think if you try and communicate a little more respectfully you will get further

I don't carry many production knives but when I do I'm a Spyderco fan

Dear Sal Glesser,

If you read this, I just want to say I'm a big fan of you and your knives :-)

Greetings from Holland

Sal has been nothing short of fantastic both times he even took care of a knife I bought from a dealer that was discontinued for 8 years and when he couldn't replace it I was given the knife's retail credit in the store which was actually more than I paid for the knife. Every time I've ever spoken with Sal here or any venue he's been nothing short of a complete gentleman. Ryan, there's about a million little cottage shops in china making knives that'll take your money. Good luck with the customer service there.

We catch no fish, my jokes aren't funny and my sandwiches suck you owe me nothing.

We catch no fish but my jokes are funny, you learned how to use side imaging sonar and my wife makes great sandwiches help me with boat gas.

If I don't find your leak you owe me nothing.

If we miss your leak I refund your money and recheck it.

Pool still leaking after I leave? Recheck is on me within the guarantee period.

As soon as a customer cusses my office staff they are given my cell phone and I handle it, right now.

Once their problem can't be handled by my staff I handle it today over the phone if possible if not as soon as I can get to their residence. I have hand delivered refunds personally.

When I make a case my pet I'm on it like a bulldog son that's why our reputation is what it is.

The only company on will never do business with again list as of right now is Ford Motor Company, they can eat a bag full of male genitals.

I broke the blade clean off a ancient Buck 119 once. Trying to use it as a crowbar when the barn door jumped the track.
Dad called them up and they sent out a brand new one without even asking for proof that the original was broken.
That's 1 reason I continue to do business with them.

I agree with most of this.

Except if you spend enough time with enough ladies you'll cuss at least one...

This thread has caused me to purchase two Spydercos in the last week. I think I'll pick up another one today after Sal's outstanding response.
