Saw a stranger with a sebenza and said hi

The only knives I have seen people carry are Kershaws mostly and CRKT's. I absolutely always ask them about them, sometimes I feel embarrassed to have a Strider or Emerson at work, but if I'm carrying a custom or Sebenza I always feel proud to show it off. Handing it to them is a different story since I've had plenty of knife people wrist flick my knives, it feels like if someone had just fingered flicked one of my testicles as I watch them do it. I'll always remain a compulsive clip watcher, if I ever see a fellow Sebenzanista I'll definitely chat them up about it.

Exactly! I never hand over my sebbie in fear of them wrist flicking
It open lol. Especially my damn cousin and he knows what they cost! I also look for clips
But carefully because I don't want someone thinking I'm staring at their crouch.....

Haven't seen a stranger with a sebenza, except at a knife show. Nor has anyone approached me with my sebenza clip in sight.

I have never come across anyone else in person that has had a sebenza or any CRK for that matter. Its pretty much Me, Myself and I when it comes to CRK for me....lol.

I sold you a sebenza. Does that count? lol

Oh yes, I have several CRK Forum family members that I have bought knives from. Pretty much all who Frequent the CRK Forum are like a little family.

I was speaking about the title of the thread basically. I don't know anyone around here nor have I ever seen anyone with a CRK of any kind. No Hinderers, Striders, ZT, nothing, nada. Don't really know too many who carry knives around here actually other than maybe a simple Case pocket knife maybe. My dad carries a Case Trapper and always tells me its the most he ever spent on a knife and it was $50.....lol. When I tell him what my Sebenza costs, he just shakes his head. To each their own I guess.

Love My Stars & Stripes by the way. I have had a few offers on it, but its not going anywhere. It by far and away the best USA Flag design they ever made.

No I know man I was jus kidding. Glad to hear you still love the stars and stripes It sure is a beautiful knife man
I agree by far best US flag design crk ever did. Just beautiful. I got a new large micarta on its way can't wait!

Didn't want to start a new thread because I figured there was already one out there, but I got to thinking about this today as I noticed a Kershaw Leek clip on someone at lunch. I always carry mine clipped except formal and the occasional corporate setting and have never had anyone comment nor have I ever seen anyone else with a CRK clip. I did have a younger guy who's a veteran notice the Benchmade clip on my Ritter mini grip awhile back at a plant I've been working at. The clips I do see are usually Kershaw or once in a blue moon a Benchmade.

I at least have a close friend and coworker that I converted to a CRK nut that I can talk knives with. But I'll admit it'd be nice to come across a stranger who felt like striking up a knowledgeable conversation about CRK. I was wondering what everyone else's experience has been. I think only true knife nuts like ourselves actually study others' clips to see what they're carrying while the average guy doesn't really care that much or doesn't notice.

Never found another guy with a CRK. I have had a few conversations with people about either my or their benchmade or Spyderco clip. A friend of a friend I occasionally see is a fellow outdoorsman who carries a Pacific Salt. My favorite was when I was working at the boathouse and a teenage volunteer said "hey nice benchmade" about my strider clip which turned into a great convo about knives. I'd see Coop from SharpbyCoop at our regatta, but I always seemed to be too busy to actually talk to the guy, always curious about what he carries.

I have never seen anything more "exotic" than a benchmade. I do find myself taking a close look when I notice a pocket clip to see what it is, but so far nothing interesting!

I have struck up conversations in certain settings w/ strangers when I've noticed them EDCing knives, regardless of the brand.

Haha--also in San Diego. Not always carrying one of my CRK, but every now and then the Umnumzaan or the 25 comes-up in my rotation. The 25 is still at the Spa.

Had it happen to me once. I was standing outside a restaurant reading the menu, deciding if that was where I was going to eat. I had my beater BG-42 Reg UG in my pocket, some guy behind me saw it. He said, "I never expected to see a woman carrying a Chris Reeve! Do you actually use it?" I pulled it out and let him see the scratches and marks all over it, then told him to show me his. He pulled out a small plain Seb that looked almost new.

I've been called out when carrying a Randall several times.

Never have I seen someone else with a sebenza...
But I do live in NYC... Don't really see anyone with knives but me...

I was out last night and I ended up showing a guy my knife, apparently he manages a machine shop. He opened it up, wiggled the blade, declared that it had side-to-side play and said his Buck was better because it didn't have that. I smiled and took my knife back.

In all the machine shops I have worked to date, there was a reason why the managers are in that position. Here's a hint, they don't move anyone with any skill to management. Kindof like saying, "those that can't do, teach".

I haven't had anyone comment on my sebenzas or any other CRK..Likely because they are always obscured by a shirt. I do have a few coworkers with them though.

That was my read on the situation, too :D
It was a litmus test of sorts. He failed

I have noticed many knives on others, but always thought it would be odd to ask them about it (assuming I didn't know them).

I have had people ask about mine, I usually hand it over with no description other than to say it's my knife. Occasionally someone will remark about a "really nice" knife they have (usually something in the 20-50 dollar range, which actually is a nice knife in my opinion, but their tone is as if to proclaim it is superior to my knife (generally they assume it is some lesser knife based on the lack of brash logos and such).

Occasionally a conversation ensues, but usually not.
