Saw a stranger with a sebenza and said hi

In rural North Cal everybody seems to carry and nobody cares what the other guy got in his pocket.
I've even seen a few guys carrying folders when dropping their kids to school where technically no knives are allowed.
One guy even had one clipped in his pocket while assisting his toddler in a gym class with other toddlers and mommies around.
Never seen a fixed blade being carried.
Still, great place knife tolerance wise.
:D

Freaking awesome! I'll have to pay more attention next time I'm passing through that part of the state.

And about the fixed blades, I'm pretty sure state law prohibits carry. But maybe I'm wrong on that

I'm living around Folsom. Let me know when you come ☺

Fixed in Ca is allowed to be carried as long as it's not concealed.

Ah, that's right. I was remembering concealed with the whole "dirk or dagger" clause.

Yeah NorCal is a pretty different place than down here. I still think the state should be split in two......

Ive never seen anyone carry a crk or like, i see alot of others especially kershaws.

I didnt receive my feb issue of blade mag, so i picked one up at the local bookstore the counter girl said nice a knife guy.
I immediatley asked what she carried. She wanted to see what i had which was 2 sebenzas a 21 elder burl and a 25 carbon fiber she had no clue what they were.
She was into fantasy knives and swords.

When i was buying my benchmade 761 either in dec/jan at a knive shop south of cleveland. The guy next to me said benchmades are to damn expensive. And another guy chimed in saying what do you drive a Kia.
The other guy was buying a sog not sure what model but around 60-80 dollar mark cause he frequently breaks the clips off.
He asked what i had and i showed him a william henry he actually said wow. And the counter guy called over the security guard so they all could admire it.

Id love to run into a fellow knive aficionado

Padron, +1 for me also.

I like meeting knife aficionados as well. Very rare around here. I see people carrying cheapies or maybe a Gerber or Kershaw. If I show them a large Sebenza 21, they have no idea what it is.

Understandable, though.... I've carried CRKT, Benchmade, Spyderco, GT Knives, and especially Microtechs. Ever since getting and carrying Chris Reeve knives, I find myself not wanting to carry anything else.

I'm predominantly in SF and around the bay area and can't say I've ever seen anyone with a CRK. I do try and keep a look out however but the most I've seen was a guy at SFSU with a Cold Steel which led to a good knife discussion and him whipping out a big ass spartan. Pretty funny stuff.
Since then I noticed a Kershaw leek strapped to the back pocket of a very cute bartender which also led to a quit chit chat and a discount on our drinks that day, she however didn't know much about knives or the brand but she did appreciate carrying a folder.

I myself don't own a CRK yet, only have Spydercos, ZT's and OKC Rat and haven't had anyone bring them up. It sure would be nice to find other blade enthusiasts to talk the hobby with. I have seen a lot of no name/Gerber's carried when I was younger, but that had more to with the ppl in the areas I around.

I live in New Jersey, and work in Philly Pa. Never have I seen anyone with a Sebenza. Everyone I know thinks it is crazy to spend $$$ on a pocket knife. I guess we owners are more rare than I thought.

I don't think the owners are as few and far between as some would think (look how often popular models are out of stock), it's just the owners who actually put them in their pockets everyday and don't think twice about it are rare.

I live in Mobile, Alabama (Gulf coast). I rarely see many people carrying anything worth talking about. I see alot of cheap gas station knives on most people. But I do have a coworker who carries alot of different zero tolerance knives so we talk some about knives. I saw one guy recently who had a spyderco manix 2, when I complimented him on it he gave me a look like I was about to rob him. That's the only part that sucks being a black guy who collects knives.

Hardly ever see anyone carrying anything worth talking about in the Raleigh Area.

There was a fella behind the counter at the local gun store... He had a William Henry with a Damascus blade. He let me handle it (I was impressed) I showed him my plain jane small reg and I might as well a showed him a wooden spoon. Oh well

That was hilarious. It really gave me a good laugh :p

Man that made me laugh! I feel for ya S_O!

I was at a local outdoor shop south of cleveland. Fin feather furs.
I was there with my nephew checking out knives and looking for a tactical pen. The people behind the counter asked what we carried my nephew responded about his new addition. Which is a zt 0770 cf then i responded having a large 21 snakewood inlay with damascus basket weave. And a 25 carbon fiber slab. They immediatlety were in ahh mode. The guy had seen crk's but the girl had never seen one.
We talked for a while and checked out a few things at the knife counter.
A few moments latter another customer was at the counter and he looked at me and said him. And the both said yeah, he asked what i had i showed him, he said ive never seen one of those.
I asked what he was carrying and he had a crk 25. He said hes never ran into another crk owner either.

Pretty interesting finally seeing another crk fan

I'm in So Cal and other than one guy at work with an inexpensive one, I haven't seen any other knives of any sort. I'll share something I read here with my wife and she's like, "Oh, that's nice." It would be nice to actually talk in person to someone who likes CRK's.

Funny because I also live in Folsom. One day I forgot to leave my knife at home and someone at work not only noticed that I had a knife clipped in my pocket but knew it was a Sebenza. Lead to a great conversation right in the middle of the cafe at work.

No CRK yet, but i routinely carry an Emerson, or a TAD Dauntless and have never had a stranger comment on either. I also live in Upstate NY.

I've been working on site for a few months, and the other morning I was getting coffee and a guy asked if I had a Sebenza in my pocket. We talked briefly and found out he owned one himself. Nice guy, and maybe we will get to talk knives some more soon.
