Fes, that is one beautiful Wapiti! The antler differs from local elk for sure! We must speak of this again!

Nathan, for God and Country's sake - vote BONE!!!

Well Fes, it's because yours run around upside down that they grow such big beautiful antlers! :D

Seriously, the Elk here are big, but often a scruffy lot. I think they are under more population pressure here. They have had to be re-introduced in some areas.
People, the scourge of the earth - now if only they grew some useful antlers!

good point!!!.....they are now taking our strain of ELK and reintroducing it back to the USA....this has been going on for the last 5 years...same deal with our SALMON

From the looks of the poll results, the covers for the forum knife will be micarta or bone.

Too much trouble to cover just a few with a different material than whatever the poll winner is.

The committee has enough to do without trying to run a side raffle.

Sorry if that came off as being a bit short Fes. I appreciate your offer as I'm sure others do. It's just that I'm certain that the committee doesn't have the wherewithal to deviate from the voted upon cover material.

MODOC...no problem at all sir,and definitely no offence taken...i was fully aware that the dynamics of my offer would cause problems for your hard working team...i merely wished to contribute to this forum in the best way i could...And once my landshark (lawyer)stops bleeding me out,i will become a financial member.......FES

That is a grand gesture FES! Thanks for offering it. That looks like killer stag and would make some very nice scales, I'm sure. Maybe if only ten folks decide to purchase the 2012 forum knife ......

I hope the introductions take root! At one time it would have been coals to Newcastle!

150-180 knives???....i better get hunting!!...........................FES

I would love a jigged bone

But if Micarta wins..
Well I have a green canvas Micarta on this lovely Enzo Trapper
So our trapper in green canvad Micarta would be good for my version of a Nessumk Tio

I voted Ram's horn... because I have a bunch I'll GIVE for the project if it will help lower costs. Plus... micarta just doesn't say "traditional" to me at all.

I would like to make a donation to these forum knives if it is deemed appropriate?..i will send over enough material to slab 10? knives...this is my personal stag that i have harvested and each one has a unique story..i personally think trappers should be stag slabbed

...the stag that i will send ,will be more (gnarly) than the stag in the pic...i hope this meets your approval......FES

Generally, I don't like stag (I know blasphemer). But, that stag looks cool. Generous offer from Fes, and while the logistics certainly would not work, I really appreciate it.

Wow....that Sika is cool.

Yup, it's funny, people talk a lovey dovey about carbon steel for the patina in the steel poll thread, but the amount of bone used on traditional knives has always been the top material.

I like micarta....but traditionals need a natural material for handles imo.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Voted bone...it's close!

Micarta 74 38.34%
Bone 70 36.27%

I would like my vote for micarta to be discarded. Also my vote for steel type. When I thought the knife was going to be a single blade rendition of the Bose that I voted on I was in. Even after that I considered and even looked for reasons to want a 48 pattern with two equal length blades. I have put serious thought into it and I just don't want it no matter how much I like to be a part of the community and support the forum. So I think its only fair that before these polls shut down that my votes are thrown out.

Micarta, because it will basically be the only thing unique to the knife and because it is hard to find a good production slip-joint in micarta. I have been eyeing Gene Wiseman, and Rick Menefee's micarta slips for a while now.
