SCAMMED out of Microtech on trade by lazy otter - Nick Reynolds, Richmond VA

No negative comments or judgements in this post. The threads linked below are also in the other thread in the GBU. I was asked to post these here by members directly involved. Since they are only facts of what has been said and posted on BF, I feel it is appropriate.

In the two threads below, Lazy Otter obtained a (generously donated) Hinderer around the very end of September 2015 (just over a month ago) for a serviceman who was deployed at the time. He stated in the first thread that he had never owned a Hinderer before. He also said that he was going to send it in a care package? Is this the same Hinderer that he was trading SeattleDude and others?

Here is a thread where Lazy Otter sold several knives in order to get the one he wanted. The problem was that he apparently had the buyers of his knives send the money to someone else's PayPal account. Neither his buyers or the PayPal receipent said they were aware of what was taking place.

In the thread below, he apparently flaked on a deal after the seller acted very gererously.

Dude ............No accusations...But proof is in the past transactions..and the bad press you have had in the past.
This transaction simply smells foul...IMO...The past posts etc..is a paper trail so too speak...

This guy is obviously a low life, probably a drug addict. He needs a reality check, when you mess with people like this it's going to come back one way or the other.

Everyone return what was exchanged. This is very bad. Trades like this can not take place. In a way it ruins it for everyone. This creates bad tension and makes me and I'm sure other nervous.

Dude, not to throw a rock but if he's got two negative reviews there is no way in hell I am same time shipping. That's especially true if its a high value item. Hell, I won't do it if it was one.

I view a negative as a huge red flag. Sometimes there are reasons but overwhelmingly its a early sign of bad actors.

I was offered the same XM (Digi, Bronze, Warncliffe, same pics) recently by Lazy Otter for a SWATmandu I had listed for sale.

My empathy for the OP, hope it sorts out.

Don't ban him till this all plays out, ban him now and he'll pop up somewhere else under another name, at least right now you know where he is. Just my 2¢ worth.

Oh man! This is just a bad bad bad situation. I have been very fortunate to deal with very upstanding folks on this forum for many buys and sells. This is always a concern when dealing online. I also looked at the ad for the XM-18 in question. Fortunately, I didn't like the blade shape and I ended up buying a bowie version new from a dealer. That could have turned out bad for me, too! OP, I hope you get some kind of restitution from this. Unfortunately, your Socom is likely long gone now.

I truly feel for you, brother.

From the way these sort of issues have gone down before, I believe that the Mods goal is to make everyone whole again before anything else. Banning at this stage will only make that outcome far less likely. If a ban is appropriate, now may not be the best time. I would bet that there is more going on behind the scenes than we in the gallery are privy to.

I just want to thank everyone for support and kind words. It is absolutely sickening feeling being scammed like this.

There were red flags all over when I shipped my MT out and he started with his excuses, delays and constant story changing and I almost filed USPS intercept, but I wanted to believe the guy because he told me he was disabled vet and was hurt in combat and can never work again. Plus the trade he offered was so good and I waited too long hoping it would all work out. My MT was scheduled to be delivered on Monday, but was delivered early on Saturday.

I don't have much hope on getting it back. But will give you any more information as it comes in.

I wish none of you have to experience this sick to the stomach feeling when you open the box and see garbage in there and then realize 100% that you have been taken and the worst you were afraid of happened.

My only thought is to keep all the packing and contents so that they match the shipped weight-may be of some help with postal inspectors and such.
Sorry you are having this problem

I would be in contact with every law enforcement entity that might remotely have jurisdiction over this guy.

He has had multiple bad deals. He was on my ignore list long ago. Using other member's paypal accounts? That is how he got on my list. He should have been gone then. Everyone should do just a quick search in the GB&U before dealing with someone. This subforum is an incredible resource. Folks should use it.

I've dealt with Lazy Otter a couple times and the first transaction went smooth. I didn't send the knives until I got my money order in the mail.

The 2nd time I dealt with him I had a Busse Game Warden for sale and he blew up my inbox several times a day for weeks, but he didn't have the money. I told him I would hold it for a couple of months till he got the money. I held it no problem for a fellow knife enthusiast. I noticed he was buying and trading knives while I held the Game Warden for him. I waited the two to three months and I emailed him if he still wanted the knife. He didn't respond and I emailed him a few days later and he got kind of rude with me, said he didn't have the money so I just let it go.

I used to talk to him before the Game Warden fiasco and he told me was a civilian contractor that was either in Iraq or Afghanistan for a while. He is not military like he likes to portray to everyone trying to get some sort of sympathy. I don't doubt he got hurt over there while doing contractor work, but he is not military. I stopped answering his emails when he would email me every once in a while.

I recently put a busse persian fighter for sale on the forums and I did get this email on 30 September about a Hinderer he wanted to trade me for a Busse AK or my persian fighter:

I would wonder out loud, if that is the same Hindered he solicited for the Long Serving Iraq Re-deployed father of two beautiful girls and a widower, with his heart set on a Hinderer that he could not afford, but that Lazy Otter was heroically tasked with securing?
