I agree the trade is the trickiest of deals however the buying is actually the safest. Unfortunately PayPal almost ALWAYS sides with the buyer during disputes. However being the seller you get to screen buyers.

I've had around 400 transactions on BF alone and try not to let low life's like L.O. Ruin my experience (haven't had a bad one).

My condolences for the OP...I say we all pitch in for a Hinderer for him if this doesn't get solved in his favor. I'm in...although Id rather buy him a CRK. [emoji6]

Yipes! That box with the enclosed junk is the epitome of what every person who transacts personal trades online fears the most. I've been buying, trading, and selling items through forums for quite a bit now and have dealt with nothing but the most upstanding folks. I do have to agree though that a persons past trade history is the biggest indicator and really the only method we have of vetting one another. Once someone has some forum clout, they are entitled to receive my product before they ship if I have no feedback, let alone a bad feedback. We all want to assume the best but if we want to protect ourselves, it's on us to read between the lines and not take a chance losing out for the sake of not wanting to offend. That of course doesn't mean courtesy isn't important but I'll never fault someone for asking for proof of ownership, shipping, ect... Hell, make em take a photo with the item in question and your email behind it. At least then you know it exists. Regardless I really feel for ya op. Money and possessions suck to lose but that infuriating feeling of being intentionally scammed is a lingering one .

Strange that he says he's a vet. He emailed me asking if I would make him a kirdashi like the one in my sig line, said that if he liked it he would buy one for everyone in his "Unit" what ever that means, the way he worded it seemed like he wanted me to think he was still involved with the military or something without outright saying it. The persistent emails and wording had a strange feel to it so I declined. Glad I did.
 
Has this clown used his supposed military service to obtain any free goods or services? If so it might be worth while to turn his info over to one of the Stolen Valor watchdog groups.
 
Can we get lazy otters real name. I want to make sure no maker or collectors I know will ever deal with this guy.

There is something happened yesterday, something I never expected to happen. (nothing to do with lazy otter or him sending Socom back)

There are amazing people in this world. People with a big heart.

I have never claimed to be military! I was a private contractor! So all this talk of me being a vet is made up by y'all ! I can't stand it when people can't tell the difference I do it for money and that's it! Enlisted men and women do it for their country! Now I've tried to stay out of this but so many of y'all are telling flat out lies it's really unbelievable! I know what was sent I've talked to a mod and sent the pics I have and I'm done with it. You guys dig up the past and oh I backed out of a deal and had the PayPal issue. The rest is made up lies. Had I done half of what I'm accused of I and y'all know I'd be gone! I will not sit here though and let people think I was military! I was and have always corrected people in this contractor and military are not the same and I will not take a bit of credit for what they do! I will not respond to this thread again because I see no need to I've said what I need to! Call me scum or whatever you want that's fine I got thick skin but don't dare call me a vet or military! Now please go back to bashing me.

You offered to trade banana-clip a Hinderer at 6:40 pm the same day you were going to ship it to SeattleDude. Was the deal with SeattleDude not complete at that point? Did you have 2 Hinderer's?

ETA - Is this the same Hinderer that was donated to go to a deployed Serviceman?

I find it odd that sooooo many people are telling lies about you. I have no doubts there are lies being told, but they aren't coming from the direction you allude to.

I remember each and every thread about this guy that ended up in the GBU....

Point is, he should have just been banned then, maybe it would have saved the OP and a few others from this BS, and certainly would have saved some server space.

The Otter has a track record that is shameful, there is no need for him to be here, and as far as him "making this right" I doubt he has any intention to do so, or even understands the concept.

You take offense to someone accidentally confusing you with a veteran, no doubt due to something you said or alluded to, yet you dont care that you are being called out as a liar, theif and scammer?

You guilted someone into gifting you a knife under fasle pretenses then tried to sell and trade it to others? Then ship the guy a box full of junk?

And how, exactly, are you trying to stay out of this? You are the center of it. This is about you.

From one veteran to ano...I mean to a "contractor" you need to fix this. I wish we could meet up. I'd even ship the hinderer back to the nice person you scammed it from on top of returning the microtech back to it's owner. Id ship them back myself. On time, with no lying, cheating or stealing.

This loser should yave been banned after the paypal scam or whatever that was he pulled. What a joke.
 
Not to draw fire here, but as an onlooker I'm a littler curious about what proof we have other than Lazy otters bad reviews in the past and a picture of the box with a different knife. I'm not picking a side as I have no vested interest in this whatsoever.....but I am extremely curious as to what evidence we have on BOTH sides of these stories.

Not trying to be lazy and not read the whole thread but after reading so many GBU posts where people go back and forth and as more get drawn in it just becomes a he said/she said contest and a battle of who can jump in and call someone a terrible person because of _____.

As I said I don't care who ends up being in the right and who ends up being in the wrong as long as the truth is uncovered. Just hoping someone (maybe a mod who knows or has seen proof) could clear this up?
 
Maybe I don't understand the way things are done here - if the claim is that Lazy Otter scammed the OP, why has he not been left a negative trader rating? It would seem an obvious step.

I'm not sure how to take Otter's responses here - he seemed to insinuate that the box was incorrect, which lends to the assumption the he was going to argue that he sent the Hinderer...but that never happened. His only posted defense of himself is that he never claimed to be military - I understand people's feelings about that; but I would think accusations of acquiring a knife under false pretenses and outright scamming would merit direct response.

In this case he's getting dogpiled for repeated squirrelly dealings, and because in this thread he has said nothing to indicate a simple misunderstanding or that demonstrates an ethical persona, and most of what he's said has been full of sketchy red flags.

He's drawing all of this fire and I've never seen a poorly considered member-member complaint here.
 
lazy otter, I'm not going to take the time to dig and research the forums. If it's true you have actually never referred to yourself as Military, that's the impression you left by your way of writing when referring to injuries in the sandbox and your past posts and communications. That's the illusion you created. By not being clearly stating important information or leaving it out it is still considered unethical. Why haven't corrected anybody before when they incorrectly referred to you as a Vet?? Does anyone have any posts,pm's or emails in which he called himself a Vet?? I'm a Gulf War Veteran and something never set right with me about lazy otter, I guess my instincts were right. Dam shame
