Schatt & Morgan?

Here's my 3 Schatt & Morgans. I had two re-handled in kirinite, along with removing the pen blades. My favorite is the clasp knife with the rosewood though. I'm not usually a fan of sheepfoot blades and there is a bit of wobble in the blade, but at over 5" closed with a heavy pull and snap..... it's pretty dreamy!

Sometimes I hate bladeforums.. .. now I'm eyeing a Swell Center moose.

Almost forgot.... Most shields on these seem to be glued but on that clasp knife, it is pinned.... like they all should be.

Ohhh yeah. The spear point is the easier of the two, but it's still a beartrap. When I first got it I actually thought I might have to sell it because I simply couldn't open either blade. But I've since "man'd up" and now it's doable, although still very strong springs. I definitely feel safe using it hard

The Forum Knife from 2010 by Queen was based on that pattern. It too has some very formidable springs, no limp wristed snap there, nice!:D:thumbup:

That skinny coke bottle!!! did that come in a clip blade?

made some modifications and will actually use the knife now. didnt like how the kick was finished.

to the edc box!

I've got a question for some of you Schatt & Morgan fans . I just acquired a S&MM stag barlow, with a clip blade. A really bad picture but is raining. I'm going to put an edge on it and put it to use, regardless of the fact it's marked 1 0f 100. It's hard for me to justify having a knife that not going to be used.
So the question is would you display or use?

Although I have 100's of knives, the ones I choose as users is not based on how rare they are. I have some knives that are 1 of 1 and I use them. No need to justify it to anyone other than yourself. All of these knives were made, first and foremost, to be used.

I wasn't looking for justification, because it will be sharp and used. A one of any number is a first for me, so just curious what others do.

I don't think it's number 1 as in serial number 1. It's just one knife out of a hundred.

My moose up there is 1 of 100, and to be honest the f and f isn't perfect. That leads me to believe that maybe 1 out of 100 isn't necessarily special, but instead just the way it was produced. What I mean is I don't think it's meant to be collected just because it's 1 of 100:)

One knife out of a hundred is what I meant to say, even if it didn't come out that way. :)

My apologies, Dean. I misunderstood your meaning. I'm glad you have decided to use the knife. It's a real looker and I have no doubt it will make a fine companion.

The Green Bone Railsplitter that I posted earlier in this thread is 1 of 100 and it has seen a lot of pocket time. I haven't carried it for a few years but it probably has a total of 18 months or so pocket time. It was my all time favorite EDC for the first couple years that I owned it.

Hope she serves you well.

I saw your Railsplitters very nice, my Railsplitter is my favorite got to cut a lot of stuff today knife.

The fact is, most Stag knives improve with carry.......That one shows potential:D:thumbup:

I guess I've been pretty lucky compared to some. I have three knives made by Queen, a #69 1/2 in feathered buffalo horn, a Northwoods Everyday Barlow in blue bone, and an S&M #99 Scout in stag. Each one of them have minor flaws as will any knife but I'm completely happy with them and am sure if I used them as the oldtimers would they'd perform fine. I'm a fan and plan on buying more. Maybe some Winterbottom bone this time.

Queen is the king of Winterbottom bone. I've got several of their knives in Winterbottom and they are just classic looking.

Finally got it sharpened and ready to go..:D

That's a beauty!

Its sheepsfoot cousin, in Winterbottom bone, has been my constant companion for the past month.

The fit and finish on my three S&M knives isn't perfect, but it's darned good. More than close enough to perfect for my needs.
